“Russians Use Air Sledges to Attack Nazis’ Rear,” Kingston Whig-Standard. March 26, 1942. Page 10. ---- This radiophoto from Moscow shows a Red Army detachment in air sledges operating in the rear of the German forces. The air sledge is more or less of an innovation of the Russian Army that is proving highly practical in the current winter warfare. Notice how the men are deployed with a machine-gunner covering them.
Aerosani - is a type of propeller-driven snowmobile, running on skis, used for communications, mail deliveries, medical aid, emergency recovery and border patrolling in northern Russia, as well as for recreation. Aerosanis were used by the Soviet Red Army during the Winter War and World War II.The first aerosanis may have been built in 1903-05 by Sergei Nezhdanovsky.
Аэросани — самоходное транспортное средство с воздушным винтом в качестве движителя, опирающееся на лыжи, предназначенное для передвижения по снегу и льду. Широко использовалось для коммуникации, медицинской помощи, доставки почты. Также аэросани использовались советской армией в зимней и ВОВ войне. Первые аэросани, были построен в 1903-05 годах Сергеем Неждановским.
