     Aerie turned with a start, surprised when the man smiled at him like they were old friends. “Uh, yeah I guess?”      “Sorry, you looked pretty lost in thought, I didn’t wanna scare you,” he said, his grin wide and infectious. “I’m Felix. It’s been awhile, Aerie.”      “Been a—wait, Felix? The Felix dad is always going on about?” Aerie asked, realization dawning. “I thought you were with my sister! You came back? Is she okay? Am I too late?”      “Whoa, hold up,” Felix told him, shaking his head. “I was with Winter, but that was a while ago for me. I got a bad habit of bouncing around time like a marble in a bottle, kid, I never know when I’m at.”      “You mean where?” Aerie asked.      “Yeah, that too sometimes,” Felix admitted.      “How did you find me?” Aerie asked, mystified and admittedly curious about the man Vlad was so passionate about, the same man who had apparently charmed his sister alongside a woman named Felicia, whose relationship to Felix still escaped Aerie’s understanding.      “You told me where and when,” Felix said, backtracking with, “Well, you will. You’d better anyway. No wait, we’re here, so you definitely do. Or someone does.”      Aerie shook his head, confused but increasingly curious.      “It don’t matter so much, what happens has to happen,” Felix said, waving it away. “Look, Aerie, I wanted to see you before you guys go. I need a favor from you.”      “From me? What can I possibly do for you?” Aerie asked. “I’m going back home to my own world. I hope I make it, anyway.”      “That’s the thing,” Felix said, earnest. “I need you to carry a message for me, for Winter.”      “Sure, of course,” Aerie said, nodding. “What do you want me to tell her?”      “Tell her we’re sorry for how things ended. We would never have left that way if we’d been given a choice,” Felix said, increasingly somber as he spoke. “Tell her we love her and our family and we always will. There’s more in this note, but that’s just for her, yeah? I just need her to know we still think of her and miss her, always.”
