College aus are so cliche (I love a good cliche) and this means that I must, by law, include every other cliche trope in this headcanon. I don’t make the rules.

Okee here we go

-When they meet, Nesta is a junior- she’s a business major. Cassian is a senior, on scholarship for soccer, majoring in something that doesn’t matter because he’s totally going to just play soccer

-Nesta gets dragged to a party when Feyre wants her and Elain to come with her to the house that Rhys and all the soccer boys rent 

-Everyone’s holding a red cup (you’ve seen movies), Feyre and Rhys are sitting on a couch whispering in each others’ ears and Elain is surrounded by a group of guys who are all trying their best to make her laugh and convince her to play beer pong. Nesta is leaning against the wall, watching the boys around Elain waiting for one of them to step a toe out of line, while avoiding all human interaction and drinking some truly disgusting trashcan punch.

-Cassian sidles up next to her and bumps her playfully on the shoulder. He’s drunk. He’s the kind of drunk that never stops moving- he’s made three rounds around the house in the last 30 minutes. He makes some truly terrible attempts at flirting- saying something along the lines of wishing that he was the cup Nesta’s holding. She stares at him for half a beat then turns and walks away. 

-The next Tuesday at 9:30, Nesta is passing out packets to the Logistics class where she’s the TA. That day, at the end of the row, wearing sunglasses... indoors, is Cassian. Smiling up at her. He takes the packets and says “Thanks, Sweetheart”. Now that she’s noticed him, every time her eyes accidentally stray to where he sits, he smirks at her. Somehow, she can tell that the way he is chewing his pen is supposed to be suggestive.

-On Thursday after class the professor mentions that Nesta provides one on one tutoring. Guess who signs up.

-Despite the many idiotic jokes, the suggestions for strip tutoring, and the requests that every other topic be explained again, Nesta learns that Cassian is, in fact, not an idiot.

-He’s always just... around. The girls go out to their favorite dirty Chinese food restaurant owned by the nice Venezuelan family and 15 boys walk in. They push all the tables together and Nesta is no longer sitting next to Feyre. 

-She’s sitting at a private cubicle in the library and a note falls on her book from the other side of the partition wall.  “You need to get out more, Sweetheart.”

-Feyre drags them to a soccer game one night. Feyre and Elain cheer throughout the game and Nesta watches but with a straight, detached face. Then Cassian has the ball and gets his legs knocked out from under him from an illegal slide tackle. Nesta stands up and starts yelling, and yells some more when the player only gets a yellow card. 

-They all go out after the game and Cassian asks Nesta if he can give her a ride home. To everyone’s surprise, Nesta says yes. When they pull up to her apartment, Cassian is about to get out of the car when Nesta puts a hand on his arm and says she can walk herself to the door, but she doesn’t get out of the car. Cassian is looking down at the hand still on her arm when she leans over and kisses him on the cheek. Except at the last moment he looks up so their mouths collide awkwardly. He puts a hand on the back of her head and deepens the kiss.

- Territorial Fae Males. It’s instinctual, it’s inevitable, it happens to everyone.

- It turns out that being on the receiving end of the territorial fae bullshit is actually super annoying. As Rowan finds out.

- The cadre is on campaign and a woman bats her lashes at him as they sit in a tavern. Lorcan downs his beer, hauls Rowan up with a hand under his shoulder, and they don’t even make it to a room before Lorcan is shoving him against a wall and licking his lips and biting his neck.

- A month later, a lower ranking soldier begins to chat Rowan up about his training regime, giving him appreciative sweeps up and down his body. Two days later, Rowan sees the same soldier posted outside on the night guard. In the middle of winter.

-As a matter of fact, it doesn’t really matter where they go, Rowan often finds himself dragged, pushed or pinned with Lorcan growling in his ear at the slightest provocation from some doomed suitor. 

- As much as Rowan enjoys this side of Lorcan… multiple times, he finally turns the tables and pins Lorcan’s shoulders and snarls something about how they are not in a relationship and that Lorcan does not own him. Lorcan just laughs and says “Whatever you say, prince”

- A week later, Rowan walks into the dining hall and sees Lorcan sitting at one of the long tables, straddling the bench and leaning in place a bite of fruit on a female’s tongue, his fingers lingering on her lips. 

- Rowan leans down to Lorcan’s ear, with his hand squeezing Lorcan’s shoulder and says that he would like to talk to him. Alone. 

-Lorcan follows close behind as they walk out of the hall and Rowan can hear him chuckling under his breath. The second they turn a corner, Rowan spins, shoves Lorcan against a wall and wipes that smirk off his face.

To his benefit, it seems like Feyre quite enjoyed sleeping with him, but I wouldn’t jump at that opportunity 😂

Hand Christian Anderson: What is your favorite fairytale? I quite like the original version of the Little Mermaid where the Prince doesn’t choose her and she has to kill him if she wants to turn back into a mermaid but can’t bring herself to do it.
