So there is this fun thing that happens when youâre adopted and itâs called forgetting youâre fucking adopted and it happens to both me and my mom so much and itâs so funny like
Doctor: do you have family history of (x condition)
Me:oh ya- lots. Brother, two uncles, one auntâŚ
Doctor: *taking notes*
Me: scrap all of that
Doctor: why?
Me: because Iâm not related to ANY of those peopleâŚ
And my mom, all the time, to my 31 year old ass:
âI brought you into this world- I can and will take you outâ
Me: âonly half true fam- but go ahead and take me out, Iâm ready to goooooâ
"I was adopted"
So I try to avoid bringing up the fact that I was adopted. If it comes up in a conversation, I donât care that much, but I try to avoid saying that Iâm an adoptee to an extent. Itâs not because Iâm afraid of people asking me intrusive questions, or at least I donât think thatâs why. I think itâs because I want to avoid the subject in general, because I donât really want to think about being an adoptee and I donât want the other person having a series of questions in their head, whether or not they will verbally say them to me. I donât really know for certain why I do this, but I do for some reason. I also think in general itâs kinda an awkward thing to bring up in a way, I guess. Like if my friends are talking about family traits and stuff like that I just kinda sit there and listen the whole time. Does anyone else try to avoid bringing up the fact that you are an adoptee?

Itâs very strange for me to wrap my head around the fact I may have a bio sibling out there....
How does one find community in a culture you were removed from

Crazy to think someone I actually (sort of) know may face deportation. But because of a weird law...
