Adobe alternatives updated for 2024 (08 June 2024). Original tweet source here.
We all know the Adobe Creative Suite, but did you know how many alternatives there are out there for each application?
If you have any other recommendations, please feel free to reply to add on! Happy Thursday!
Anyone know any free or lifetime/one time purchase for adobe Photoshop, adobe animate, and adobe premiere pro? I love the softwares and their tools, and I use them so much, but it's getting unaffordable. Plus Adobe is dubious.
hey! does anyone know any good drawing apps for the ipad? i was very used to adobe fresco, but i haven't used it in a long time due to adobe being shit and training their AI using your files. currently i'm using procreate but i don't like how minimalist it is.
crucially, it must have no ads OR a one time payment to get rid of them/buy the app. not interested in subscriptions

OK so people are kinda freaking out over what Affinity's 'Creative Freedom' reveal on October 30 means (please GOD please I hope it's not trying to change Affinity's perpetual license system to a damn subscription model kkkkkk) but that's not why I'm sharing this.
If you have an iPad, get on the app store NOW and download the Affinity suite (Photo, Designer and Publisher) because a)they're now available for FREE, and b)this is now the only place you can get this software. The desktop version currently cannot be bought; the Affinity store is inaccessible.
So yeah, TLDR - if you still don't have the Affinity Suite, your only shot is to download it onto your iPad from the App store before Oct 30th!
Some ideas for Adobe alternatives! (Also marked if free or not.)
What are we using these days for amateur-but-picky photo editing? Not looking for filters a la Insta, but for things like isolating parts of images, manipulating layers, scaling/skewing, and playing with colors, think Photoshop Elements but for someone who is concerned about privacy policies and the over-connectedness of the Google overlords but isn't independently wealthy. Might want to poke at digital drawing/painting in the future, but lacks the brain bandwidth to use a program that requires too much technical know-how to get started.
I know my little circle here is small, but hoping this will find its way to Someone with Opinions.
Thanks!
