You actually just said what I failed horribly to say. 'There are two people, they both have needs.' I just see Elsa's needs as being treated like a girlfriend and not NOT being treated as a sex object. If that makes sense. So, yes, Anna is not pushing her for sex, but is she actually trying to step up and be what Elsa needs in the way Elsa is trying to do for her? That's all I was trying to say and I honestly think I did so pretty politely. The tone of your reply (and tags) was unnecessary.
With all due respect, we are not intending to be rude, but the literal meaning of the words you used for your argument readily implies that Anna possessing a polyamorous mentality when it comes to sexuality is wrong. That goes beyond the boundaries of discussing a fic, and starts treading places that can be damaging to real live people.
However politely you say it, thatâs a problem, so directness took precedence over politeness.
Now, in terms of the fic, this is hard for both of them. Elsa has tangible proof that Anna has a high sex driveâone that the person sheâs maybe-sort of a âthingâ with canât really accommodate fully. Knowing that, she tries to make the concessions she can so that sheâs not taking advantage of Anna.
Meanwhile, Anna doesnât even really get what Elsa wants. Thatâs part of why she panics when she finds out that Elsaâs asexual. This person she cares about is operating on a spectrum she canât understand, and she doesnât want to be taking advantage of that.
Neither one wants to lock the other in a relationship where theyâre unhappy.
As far as Anna stepping up, the last chapter of the fic says it better than I care to:
âKnowing she wants to make me this happy, even if itâs in ways that make her uncomfortable? I have to do something about it.â
This chapter, the topic of sex comes up because Annaâs wondering what the boundaries are. It isnât Elsa giving and giving; sheâs thought about the logical progression of Annaâs needs, and she has a game plan for the best way of keeping their thing sane and healthy.
Elsa has a fairly easy route to understanding Anna, frankly. Anna wants sex. Giving her a way to have that makes logical sense (emotionally, it could go sideways, but this in an emotional offering only in that Elsa doesnât want to deprive Anna).
Elsa, though, is allo to Annaâs aro. Sex is a plainly physical act. There are diagrams explaining how it works. Simple.
Romance doesnât come with diagrams. Anna has no frame of reference. The ways of meeting Elsa halfway arenât nearly as obvious as the solution to Anna being interested in sex. I mean, I know weâre stepping away from the âkeeping scoreâ commentary, but seriously, Elsa has cheat codes.
And just by being in a relationship Anna doesnât fully understand, sheâs putting herself out there. Stepping out into brand new territory is intimidating, and sheâs decided that sheâll give this a shot for Elsa.
Theyâve got a mutual anxiety-stretching thing going on.
PiratesoftheCaribbean!AU. Anna has the Compass. All she wants to do is a spot of pirating. Perhaps some debauchery and general fun. Too bad it keeps directing her towards a particular blonde noble. One who absolutely positively can't stand pirates...
Unable to help herself, Anna keeps taking stupid risks to get Elsaâs attention. One fateful afternoon, however, plans go awry and she ends up captured. Standing on the deck of Elsaâs ship, Anna blushes fiercely as Elsa gives her a quick frisk. And, naturally, Elsa fishes the compass out of Annaâs pocket.
âWhatâs this?â Elsa tilts her head. âA rather dingy excuse for a compass here. She squints at the reading, then up at the sky. âAnd broken too,â Elsa murmurs.
âItâs not broken,â Anna objects. She would cross her arms, except her hands are tied behind her back.
With a flick, Elsa snaps her own compass open. She holds them side by side so Anna can see them. âBroken,â she says. Sure enough, Elsaâs compass is pointing due north, unwavering. As for Annaâs compass, itâs pointed... right at Anna?
Unable to respond, Anna just blinks. As Elsa begins to talk about whatâs going to happen to Anna for the crime of piracy, sheâs pacing around Anna in a slow, leisurely circle.
Although Anna turns to keep Elsa in her sight, her gaze is completely transfixed on her compass in Elsaâs hand. Absently holding it open, Elsa doesnât notice at all how the needle remains fixed on Anna. By the time she finishes her slow circle, there can be no doubt of what that means.
A slow smile spreads over Annaâs face, along with a flattered blush. Half-formed plans take root and she feels her smile spread to her eyes. After all, sheâd gotten into piracy with some debauchery in mind.
I desperately need an AU where the dorky sisters constantly being mistaken for a couple. Like usually they laugh it off but maybe after a series of bad dates with other people, when the same thing happens again they just think to themselves 'although that would be nice.. wait what?' And suddenly all the sisterly things don't feel so sisterly anymore idk idk
It starts off awkward. The first time it happens, theyâre in the grocery store and theyâre horrified at the mistake. They spend two minutes repeatedly reassuring themselves, the clerk, and random passerby that they are not a couple but theyâre not offended, really.
By the fifth time, itâs a regular occurrence. They realize thereâs a pattern to it. Anna points out that they never get mistaken for a couple when their parents are around to make them look familial. Elsa points out that it always happens when theyâre holding hands on leaning on each other a bit--activities theyâd always done as sisters that other people donât read as familial.
They get older and donât even flinch when it happens. Itâs habit. They glance at each other and Anna breaks the tension with a laugh, followed by Elsa briefly saying that theyâre not a couple.
And then it happens the week after they both had bad dates. Anna laughs, Elsa explains, and they move on their way. Itâs not even awkward anymore to fall back into their unspoken habits (held hands and soft smiles) when it occurs to Anna that it wouldnât be bad at all, having someone like Elsa to date. Simultaneously it occurs to Elsa that it wouldnât be bad at all, having someone like Anna to date.
Pondering the thought for a moment, it isnât a great cognitive leap to go from âsomeone like Elsaâ or âsomeone like Annaâ to thinking about Anna or Elsa (and dating) directly.
They let go of each otherâs hands in the same moment and, when their eyes meet sidelong, itâs like seeing a stranger for the first time.
Truman Show!AU. Anna is Truman, Hans is Meryl, Kristoff is Marlon, and Elsa is Silvia.
Oooh, this is pretty promising. Anyone in Trumanâs place would be interesting, but Anna is the most likely to react like he did, taking her rebellion to extremes and getting ridiculous and driven about it. Hans would be PERFECT as Meryl, playing the perfect husband whoâs all smiles and raking in the cash behind the scenes, all while not caring at all for Anna as a person.
Kristoff as Marlon is a rough one for me, since I canât see hime holding out from her that long, but the general archetype fits well enough. As for Elsa as Silvia⊠that sounds like it would make for some wonderful drama/angst :P
Nice cast!Â

1/2 I've always thought that in some sort of ultimate cosmic AU thing that Elsa would be the bringer of the end of the universe, not because she's evil, but because she embodies cold. (Channels Khan) Space is very cold. And cold eventually beats heat. So she brings the Big Freeze (or heat death) and the universe ends. Anyway, the way I headcannoned it as elsanna is that Anna is some other cosmological deity and Elsa didn't want her to die (I guess anna would be heat so they would be opposites)
2/2 so basically they end up being together to instead of leave the universe with zero-energy, cause it to collapse and bounce back through their love. It's a bit cheesy and weird, but exactly the kind of thing I'd come up with. So I did.
Frankly, thatâs exactly the sort of thing youâd come up with, Spooths.
Elsa and Anna as elemental opposites is a headcanon Iâve always enjoyed. This would be an interesting way to do it, however. Instead of the usual stakes, this raises the intensity to literally-universal levels. (Geddit, UNIVERSE-AL?)
Three words. Princess Bride AU (does AU count as a word?)
Acronyms tend to count as one word to me, personally, so sure.
Iâm 100% here for Dread Pirate Anna/Elsa, for the record. Especially because I like the idea of the Dread Pirate X being a woman, being this terrifying woman and whenever the crew changes over itâs this transition of terrible power and reputation to a younger woman and you basically never get to see that happen with ladies?
Sorry for derailing, but that might be my favorite part of the AU XDD
or what about online!AU first time meeting, Elsa is supposed to pick Anna up but she was at the wrong terminal and they both wait and try to contact one another (Anna doesn't have internet access yet? idk) and Elsa thinks shit, she done messed up and it takes at least 15 mins to get to the other terminal and she's not normally this disorganized. 'Anna wait where are you? I'm standing in front of a BK' / 'i'm waiting by the exit with the green backpack' then 10 mins later 'ok Anna I'm at (cont'd)
the exit now, I can't see you?' elsa panicking cos did Anna leave without her ;-; because she was late and got mixed up / 'uhh elsa you said you were in front of a BK so..' / elsa is relieved because they just passed each other and tells Anna to wait there while Elsa comes back for her and the initial panic becomes a funny story for them to break the ice. At first Anna is a bit intimidated by her beauty and stuff but then Elsa is also sweaty and wheezing because of all the running around. :>
Oh my god these total DORKS XDDDD
I literally cannot comprehend how wrong they would need to be to fuck this up this badly, but I can still see it happening. When they finally meet up, theyâre both hungry and end up grabbing lunch near the airport and they keep joking that theyâre never going to leave the immediate area, that theyâre clearly stuck in some sort of gravitational vortex trapping them there.
