Your favorite spot in the library is an impossibly comfortable chair, placed at the corner of a huge window with a tree tapping the glass outside. His favorite spot is the desk with the outlet for his phone and laptop which sits directly opposite your chair, at the other side of the window.Â
Therefore, itâs only natural that he catches your eye.
You still remember the first day you saw him, only two weeks into first semester. You had several lectures pretty far apart, and you had recently discovered your favorite spot as the perfect place to pass the time. It had been empty every time you returned, almost like it was fated to be yours, so you kept returning. That particular Friday, it was empty again. You folded yourself into your chair and laid out your stack of books on the table in front of you.
Naturally, your gaze drifted up, and there he was. Jihoon. His face was highlighted in profile as he stared out of the window above his desk, absently twirling a pen in time to whatever music must have been playing in his headphones. There was something so⌠focused about him. It made you lose focus entirely.
As the semester wore on, you lost track of how often youâd been distracted by him. It was both a great advantage and terrible curse that your chair was pointed in his direction, while his desk made him face the window. It meant you could stare as much as you wanted without him seeing you.
There were a few simple things youâd learned about in that time; judging by his papers, he was a music major (and he hummed like he was talented), he changed his hairstyle a lot (from pink to black and everything between), and you never saw him without caffeine (coffee for cold days, cola for warm).
You also learned more complicated things whenever he had a friend with him; he was bad at receiving compliments (he shook them all off and scrunched his nose), he expressed affection through actions not words (according to teasing, he was always quietly paying for stuff without telling anyone), and he would have done anything in his power to merely make the people he loved happy (even staying up all night to help them finish assignments for classes he wasnât in).
Safe you say, you had developed quite the crush.
You interacted five times that semester. The first time, you came in late one day, buffeted by wind and rain outside, holding a dripping umbrella. You flopped into your chair in relief, and lay there with your eyes closed a moment, gathering your breath. And when you opened them⌠he was looking at you.
His head was tilted to one side, curious, and his dark eyes were almost concerned. But the second you caught him looking, his gaze whipped back to his own paper. You watched surreptitiously a moment longer, seeing how his ears turned red. And that was all.
The second time, you dropped an entire armful of papers, books, and pens by your chair. While you scrabbled on the ground, muttering annoyance, you suddenly saw his pretty pale hands come into view. Wordlessly, he helped you clear it all up. When you thanked him, he simply nodded, and returned to work.Â
The third time, you passed him as he went down the stairs, and when your eyes met, he said âyour chairâs currently occupied, by the way.â You were too stunned to respond, and he kept walking quickly without giving you a chance to recover. You went to find a different place to sit, smiling because heâd noticed it was your spot, and actually bothered to tell you.Â
The forth time was during the days leading up to exams. In the middle of studying, a friend from your class called you, desperate for you to help her, and you agreed to meet her in five minutes for coffee. You stared at the take away cup already in your hand, glanced up and the music boy, and acted on impulse.Â
âHi, sorry to bother you,â you said, and he looked adorable when his attention jerked to you in surprise. âI have to go meet a friend for coffee, but I just bought myself this one - havenât even drunk any yet - so do you want it?â
âOh,â he looked down at the cup in your hands, and a shy little smile spread over his face. âYeah, I- thanks.â
You handed it to him, and quickly gathered your things to leave. It was only after you were halfway down the stairs that you realized heâd already had a cup of coffee on his desk.
The fifth time was in the thick of exams. You were buried in your notes, getting stressed about everything you still had to get done, when a quiet throat-clearing made you look up.
âHey, sorry to bother you,â he said, almost precisely repeating your own words. âI just finished study for the day. Actually, um, Iâm about to go to my last exam. But I never ate all the snacks I got. So, do you want this?â
He held out a fully sealed pack of your favorite snack on earth. Your lips parted, and you were already nodding.
âWow, yeah, if thatâs okay,â you looked up at his as he thrust it into your hands, and his cheeks were pink. âThank you.â
âNo problem. I was going to eat it, but time got away with me. Itâs no big deal.â
For some reason, you felt like he was lying. It couldnât have been a coincidence. He must have seen you eating the same thing, and from what you gathered from seeing him with his friends, he was probably trying to subtly pay you back for the coffee. Or express concern over your stress levels. But you didnât call him out.
âGood luck with your exam,â you said.
âThanks,â he replied, and then hesitated. âIâm Jihoon, by the way.â
âIâm Y/N,â you said.
He smiled like the word was music.
âIâll see you later, Y/N,â he said.
âSee you, Jihoon,â you echoed, and you watched him walk away.
-
Now, itâs second semester. Your first day back. And so far, thereâs no sign of Jihoon. You feel a little crazy to care so much about seeing him. Before, you had considered him a distraction, but suddenly youâre worried he was the opposite, and it might now be impossible to focus without him nearby.Â
But he comes through for you, the first of many times heâll do so. As you try to read the same paragraph for a third time, the sound of familiar footsteps makes you look up. And there he is.Â
Jihoon is looking at you shyly as he walks toward his usual desk⌠and then right past it. He comes to a stop in front of your chair.
âHi,â he says carefully.
âHi,â under his piercing stare, you feel suddenly very self conscious about how you look.
âThis is weird, but I have to say it,â he says, and you notice his whole face is red. âThis whole break⌠I kind of missed you.â
âYeah?â you canât stop your smile blooming.
âYeah. I, um, know we donât really know each other. But I want to know you. I spent last semester wishing I knew how to talk to you, to be honest.â
âI wanted to talk to you too,â you admitted, laughing a little.
Now Jihoon canât stop smiling.
âReally?â he says, eyes sparkling. âDo you want to go out with me sometime, then? Maybe get to know each other more?â
âIâd love that,â you say. âI really would.â
How did Kakashi get into Icha-Icha-Paradise series? By chance? By morbid curiosity? By Jiraiya laying a trap? *shrugs* I dunno. Hope you have fun with it though!
How Kakashi got into Icha-Icha Paradise
⢠I can see a few ways Kakashi got into Icha-Icha-Paradise. Kakashi could have stumbled upon it while looking through a box of books that was given to him. The only book in the box that caught his attentions was Icha-Icha-Paradise, with the intriguing cover he couldnât help but want to read it.  Â
⢠Kakashi could have been pulled in by Jiraiya, having him read over his drafts much like Naruto had to do. A simple harmless âWant to read my new book?â Turning into a full on obsession for Kakashi. Though when he started reading he didnât like it, he was pushed by Jiraiya to finish the book and then tell him what he thought. Kakashi found it embarrassing at first that he liked such books but admitted to Jiraiya that it was a good book.Â
⢠He could have also just been curious. Looking around a book store and just coming across it. Reading a page or two in the book store before shutting the book, poor guy probably felt odd reading a book like that in public, heâd definitely get used to it though.

Heavy footsteps on the cement floors of the apartment complex reached Asahiâs ears made him almost jump out of his skin and hurriedly stopped his work to put it in the fridge. He turned around just in time to hear the locks click open and see the door swing open.
You looked horrible, in the least offensive sense of the word. Asahi knew you were way too stressed with work these past few weeksâcoming home late most days, not really having much time to eat let alone relax. It was obviously taking a toll on your body, so Asahi decided it was high time you got to rest your shoulders a bit.
âHey, babe,â he said, moving around the breakfast bar to come to you with outstretched arms, ready to catch you if you ended up collapsing. âWelcome home.â
You tiredly toed off your shoes and dropped your bags by the entryway, immediately sliding across the floor in your stockings to crash against him and wrap your arms tightly around his strong chest. The perpetual citrus scent coming off him made you sigh in contentment. You felt the faint scratch of a beard against your forehead as he leaned down to press a soft kiss.
A tired smile crossed your face. âIâm home, Asahi.â You two stayed wrapped around each other for a while, content to just bask in the otherâs presence.
âGod, Iâm so tired,â you mumbled into his chest, heaving out another sigh.
Asahi ran a hand up and down your back. âWhy donât you go take a shower and a bath, then? Iâll get dinner ready.â He tightened his hold on you for a second before holding you at armâs length. âJust relax tonight, okay?â Asahi cupped our cheek in his warm palm, and you instinctively leaned into it, holding a hand up to his to keep it there.
âHave I told you youâre the best boyfriend ever?â you said smiling, tired but grateful.
âOnly all the time.â He leaned in and pecked your nose quickly before turning you to the direction of the bedroom.
You laughed as so headed to the bathroom. âI love you, Asahi!â you yelled, closing the door gently.
Asahi chuckled, retreating into the kitchenette to continue his surprise.
You were bent forward, furiously shaking off the excess water in your hair with the towel, tired eyes closed and wishing for sleep.
But nope, not now when you could smell something really good cooking, almost making you salivate from the richness of the different flavors mixed just right. You were simply too busy during work that you only had time to get a couple of granola bars from the vending machine at the lobby and eat them while working. And even then, it was the bland, gross kind that tasted like cardboard, so you couldnât really enjoy it.
You straightened up and fluffed your hair a little bit more before tossing the towel into the laundry basket. You stepped out of the bedroom, inhaling the savory smell of dinner.
A moan escaped you, eagerly going over to the breakfast bar to perch on one of the stools. âThat smells so good, oh my god.â
Asahi chuckled and turned around from the stove, holding two generous servings of pot roast in each hand. âIâve never actually tried making this before,â he said, rounding the counter and setting down a plate in front of you. âI really hope you like it, though.â
When heâd settled down onto the chair, you gave him a small peck. âIâm pretty sure Iâm gonna like whatever you make, Asahi.â
âWell, letâs dig in.â
âThat was amazing,â you moaned, hunched over the breakfast bar and completely ready to pass out from the delicious meal you just had. âMy stomachâs so full I feel like Iâm ready to hibernate for about ten years.â
You could hear your boyfriend laugh, the rough bass sending shivers down your spine. God, you loved how he laughed.
âDonât be going to sleep on me now, Y/N. We still have dessert.â A gust of air from the fridge made you flinch, goosebumps rising on your skin. You heard the thump of it closing and Asahiâs slippers softly slapping the wooden floors.
You sat back up and stretched, the air bubbles in your joints popping like firecrackers. âYou made dessert?â Your eyes were closed as you relaxed, but when you opened them it was completely dark.
Save for a single candle stuck in the tiny cupcake in Asahiâs hands.
âHappy birthday to you,â he sang, coming to stand on the other side of the breakfast bar. âHappy birthday to you.â He set the cupcake in front of you and took one of your shaky hands in his. âHappy birthday, happy birthday.â Asahi brought you hand up to his mouth and pressed a long kiss to it. âHappy birthday to you.â
You were speechless. It was one thing to offer to cook dinner when you were dead tired from the world. It was another thing completely to remember your birthday when you yourself had been too busy and stressed to even register the date. You had no idea how you got so lucky to have Asahi in your life, but at this point you were too grateful to care.
It took a few tried to suppress the sob building up in your throat, but you made no effort to stem the flow of tears from your eyes. âThank you,â you choked out, gripping the hand that held yours tightly the knuckles turned white. âThank you so much.â
Asahiâs thumb brushed your knuckles gently, soothing you, calming your nerves. âI love you so much,â he whispered in the dark, and you could just make out the loving smile on his face.
You let go of him, only to cup his face in both of your hand and pull him to you in a kiss, that said all the things you didnât have the strength to say yet.
As your lips met again and again, the fire from the single candle burned bright, and kept you warm in each otherâs arms.
Daichi with 'neighbors who only meet because âi cannot get this stupid jar open, can you help?â' please????

You were never going to buy anything from this company again. It wasnât that their product tasted bad, though. Then again, you didnât even know if it tasted bad because you havenât really eaten any of it at this point. But there were a lot of people with the same peanut butter jar in their baskets at the grocery, so you assumed it was at least delicious.
But, no. You werenât going to buy from them again not because the peanut butter was horrible. But because you couldnât get to opening the thing in the first place.
See, you prided yourself on being a handy person, able to go from cooking to sewing to piecing together an Ikea cabinet in one try. It was the first thing out of your mouth when introducing yourselfââHello, everyone. My name is Y/N and I can build an Ikea cabinet.â It would always have everyone laughing and made for a good conversation starter.
The people who knew you really well would say that you knew so many tips and tricks to so many thingsâlike how to get wine stains out of white shirts without all the unnecessary scrubbing, or how to properly clean your tools, and (most famously) how to open a stubborn jar without breaking your wrist.
Never have your tips on the jar opening thing failed anyone before. If one trick didnât work, then youâd have two or three more to suggest, and your friendsâ jars always opened. It was proven that wearing a rubber glove while opening the jar had the highest success rate, so you tried it when the lid refused to budge.
You sighed, setting the jar on the counter and swiftly pulling the rubber glove off your hand.
Damn it, that trick always worked. What manufacturer decided to seal the jar so tightly that it was nearly impossible to open?
You weighed your options, which were none, come to think of it. Your jar opener was broken and you hadnât had time yet to look for another one. The heating for the tap was broken as well, so you couldnât run it under. And to top it off, the crust had almost finished baking, so you had to act fast.
Desperate, you took the jar and hurried outside to the hallway, the small voice that nagged at you for inconveniencing another person screaming at the back of your mind as you knocked on the door in front of yours.
The door swung open a few seconds later, revealing a tall(really buff, really cute) guy, with a confused, but curious expression on his face.
âUh, hi?â he said, uncertain.
âHi,â you said. âSo Iâm making this cheesecake, right? The crust is almost done baking, and Iâve finished the filling, but I canât get this stupid jar openâcan you please help?â you rushed out, holding the stubborn peanut butter jar out to him. He had muscly looking arms. He could probably get it open, right?
He wordlessly took the jar, still looking confused, but not so much that he asked any questions. Gripping tightly, he easily twisted it, popping the seal and opening the damned thing.
âThank god,â you said, hurriedly taking the peanut butter from his hands and stepping backwards into your apartment. âThank you so much, whoever you areâI owe you a slice for saving my cheesecake!â
âNo problem, I guess?â he said, leaning against his doorframe with an amused smile on his face. âAnd you donât have to, really. I just opened the jar.â
âYeah,â you answered, âand thatâs a big deal for me, so youâre still getting a slice.â You smiled gratefully at him. âDonât go anywhere, okay?â And with that, you closed the door, leaving no more room for argument.
You turned to your little kitchen. âAll right, cheesecake. Letâs finish you up.â
A knock on the door popped Daichiâs bubble of concentration, and he gratefully slid out of the dining chair and rolled his shoulders on the way to the door. He would take anything to get away from Calculus, even for only a few minutes.
He was greeted by you again, standing excitedly, one hand holding a plate with a big slice of cake on itâprobably the cheesecake you said you were making earlier.
âOne slice of cheesecake, as promised,â you said, grandly presenting the plated dessert to him.
Daichi chuckled. âThank you. Again, you really didnât have to give me one,â he said shyly.
âAnd again, I owed you one,â you said, smiling gratefully at him again. âNow my debt is paid and I get a review of my first peanut butter cheesecake. Win-win!â
âAh, oh no, Iâm not very good with reviews,â Daichi said, taking the plate from your waiting hand.
âNonsenseâyou just have to say if itâs good or not. Nothing to stress over.â You beamed up at him, obviously excited.
âOkay,â he said after a few moments. He pushed his apartment door further open. âCome in?â
Your already big smile widened even further. Daichi felt his heart skip a beat, and he turned away to lead you to the breakfast bar. As Daichi rummaged in his drawers for a fork, you busied yourself with looking around the space from your perch at the bar.
âSo,â Daichi said after finding a fork and settling himself beside you, âcheesecake.â
You nodded, a tiny smile blooming on your face. âYep. First time Iâve made this one.â
Daichi snapped his head your way. âWhat, really? So Iâm technically your first customer?â If Daichi wasnât nervous enough letting a pretty stranger into his home, then he was really panicking now.
Giggling, you nodded your head. âYou are, so hurry up and take a bite!â
The boy didnât doubt that the cheesecake would be goodâthe crust was even and baked golden, the filling holding up, with decorative swirls of what he figured would be the peanut butter on top. The fork went through easily, and Daichi scooped up the piece.
Your eagerness was palpable as you watched him eat. Big worried eyes melted into excitement as his face scrunched up in delight and he let out a groan.
âThis is really good,â he said, getting another piece and shoving that one in quick, making you laugh.
âExperiment success!â you exclaimed, clasping your hands together. âIâm glad you like it.â You stood up and excitedly made your way to the front door. âOn that note, I have a drink that I think goes well with the cheesecake, and Iâd love for you to try it. Hold on, let me get it right now,â you said, not waiting for him to comment before going straight for the door.
âAh, waitâuhâ,â Daichi called, stopping short when he realized he didnât know your name.
You stopped, already having flung the door open. âOh yeah, I havenât really introduced myself, havenât I?â An embarrassed giggle escaped your mouth. âSorry, I forget my manners when Iâm excited. My nameâs Y/N.â
âDaichi,â he said, smiling at how unintentionally cute you were being.
You aimed another bright smile at him, and Daichi swore he kind of died a little bit. âOkay, Daichi. You just sit tight, âkay?â
He nodded as you slipped out the door. Daichi turned back to the cheesecake, part of him not wanting to finish it so you could stay longer, and wondering what would happen if he asked you to stay when he did finish it.
Just then, you slipped through the open door, carrying a small tray laden with another slice of cake, and two steaming teacups.
Seemed like Daichi didnât have to worry about getting her to stay a little longer, after all.
A very steady Standard dancer thanks to his innate ability to hear the music.
He started dancing seriously when he was in grade school, but only got to compete during his third-year in middle school. Sadly, he didnât pass the preliminaries. He also does Latin but didnât start working on it more seriously until middle school.
His best Standard dance is the Waltz: a slow and overdone dance, but one of the hardest ones in terms of form, and boy is this boyâs form amazing. You can tell he spends a lot of time working on it, making sure his frame is perfect even when his arms are tired.
Daichi takes the basic steps seriously as well, as theyâre the foundation for everything.
His best Latin dance is the samba, as it requires a lot of grounding and difficult technique. He loves a good challenge.
Outside of dances he does for competition, Daichi also likes Salsa since itâs fun and easy to pick up.
For whatever reason, he cracks up a lot during practice. He tries to hold it in, but sometimes you just say something or make a face and he loses it and suddenly your super intense Tango is anything but.
His philosophy on competition dancewear: thereâs no reason for them to look that ugly and be that expensive. (Everyone on the team picks up this sentiment from him.)
Asahi
Asahi is⌠heâs an amazing dancer. He tries to stay humble, but he knows at the very least, he can be a good lead. When he gets on the dance floor and he starts moving, heâs on fire. Be it Standard or Latin, he can do it and do it right.
But! His anxiety brings him down. When he got brutally crushed during a competition, he quit dancing to the dismay of his friends at Karasuno. He tried to stay away from, but he got sucked in again when Hinata and Kageyama came looking for Karasunoâs dance ace.
Youâre still grateful for those two for getting your partner back into the game. When you finally reunited for a practice, though, you were sure to give him a (playful) smack upside the head. You donât want to dance with anyone else but him.
His favorite Latin dance is the Cha-Cha-Cha, but everyone and their mother really loves when he does the Pasodoble. The coach argues that itâs his best dance, but he needs a few minutes to get into the Paso zone, since it is an intense dance and heâs so soft by nature.
His favorite Standard dance is the Viennese Waltz, since thereâs a kind of sweeping, romantic fairytale quality to it. But his best dance is the Tango, and like the Paso, he needs to get into the zone for it.
He loves club dances outside of competition like Club Swing and Hustle, but it takes a lot to get him to go anywhere to actually dance them.
Ushijima
Heâs built stocky and buff and tall, but daaaamn can his hips move. Heâs a trained Standard dancer, but does Latin on the side.
Strongest Standard: Tango. Strongest Latin: a tie between Rumba or Pasodoble (those two always get him full checks).
You fully expected him to excel at the Pasodoble but the Rumba always takes you by surprise
Heâs not too fond of the swing dances. Ushijima dances them just fine, but theyâre not his favorite and he has to be in a certain mood to really get into them.
Heâs gone through the most partners out of everyone in the series. His past partnerships died out because they couldnât handle his blunt critiques. Itâs not like he means to be tactless: it just comes out like that. He can only prove to be a good leader if he has a good follower.
Even knowing this, you still accepted to be his partner. His skill is top notch. No miscommunication is ever gonna turn you off from such an ace dancer, especially knowing that heâs only saying what he does because he wants this partnership to work and to be the best there is.
He was honestly surprised to see you in practice the next day and ready to dance after your first big fight. His old partners usually quit after that.
Thereâs no greater victory than when you catch a glimpse of him smiling in the mirror when youâre practicing. Something about that more so than trophies and medals makes this all worth it.
