my strange adhd tips
so these are tips that help me work around my adhd in school and life. they might not work for everyone but they’ve helped me a lot and i wanna pass em on!
- when doing chores, listen to podcasts. this helps me because podcasts give my brain something else to focus on in addition to a mindless task, which can overcome executive dysfunction.
- when studying, my essentials are music through my earbuds and a warm drink. for me this is coffee but i know caffeine affects everyone differently. the warm drink helps me signal to my brain that it’s time to work!!
- when i have caffeine, i take 200 mgs of l theanine, an amino acid analogue which is proven to reduce caffeine-induced anxiety and create a better focus. basically it puts me in a calm focused headspace and eliminates the caffeine crash.
- go to the library or have a schoolwork session with friends. while verbal studying with friends doesn’t work for me, doing schoolwork parallel to a friend who you ask to keep you on task can be a lifesaver.
