First Day of School 9.4.18
This is late, of course, because Iâm a terrible mother and blogger, but last week, the kiddos had their fist day of school!
Avery and Addie are in their last year of middle school-8th grade! Yes, theyâre excited to be at the top of the food chain of their school! Theyâre the âbig kidsâ in this case, and enjoying every second of it.
The âtwinningâ thing is long gone, though. I used to send them off with matching outfits and hair, and they now balk at that very idea. Their personal styles are coming through, and even though I may not always agree with their choices, I let them express themselves (within reason!)Â
Dance classes and cheer leading have already started back up too, so we are INCREDIBLY busy here in the Simmons household! The girls seem to be liking their teachers so far, and donât have issues doing their homework either.Â
Noah started 3rd grade this year! He loves his new teacher and has a few of his friends in his class! Heâs also starting to find his own style, but I still have to guide him most days, to his dismay. "Itâs not COOL mom!â He tells me. I have to just laugh it off, Christian says he did the same thing with his parents when he was Noahâs age.Â
Noah is also doing well so far, keeping up with his homework along with his soccer and football practices. Theyâre only one day a week each, so heâs not in over his head quite yet. He told me he doesnât know how Avery and Addie do it! I have to agree with him!Â
And then thereâs my dear Brooklyn. My baby isnât my baby any longer! She started pre-K this year, and was SO excited about it! She leaves with Noah and I grab her at 12:15 every day, and every day, she tells me how AWESOME her teacher and new friends are! Her teacher has called me and told me what a firecracker Brooklyn is and that pretty much the entire class wants to be her friend. This doesnât surprise me in the slightest, sheâs easily the loudest of my children and has a personality to envy. She woke me up at three am on the first day of school asking if it was time to get up yet.Â
Brooklyn doesnât have homework yet, but she gets jealous that she doesnât, so I print out some educational coloring pages for her and let her do those and grade them for her when I check over everyone elseâs homework at night. I hope she doesnât loose that thirst for knowledge!
Weâll see how the kids feel on the last day of school, right now theyâre still bright-eyed and excited because itâs all new, but usually, around October, they start singing a different tune.Â
