"It is the things we love most that destroy us."
She had been living across the street from Beckham since before she could remember and attending the same social events since then. After a falling out between their parents, the two of them remained close. But when she found out how his father really treated him, things were never really the same between the two, with her constantly taking care of him. They found themselves in her backyard when their parents were out, discussing a wide variety of things. Her gaze had been focused on a house in the distance, but at his words, she turned to look at him. She wasnât terribly surprised to find Beck lighting another one of those cigarettes he refused to stop smoking, no matter how much Paisley nagged him about it. Reaching her free hand down to grab him, she gave it a gentle squeeze and leaned her head back against the tree. âAnd itâs the people that love you most that will be there to pick up your destroyed pieces. Thatâs where Iâll be.â
"I wish they were all dead."
Paisley wished she could tell him not to. She wished to hell and back that he didnât think that of his parents and that they didnât treat him like shit. God did she wish there was anything she could say that would make him feel better, but there wasnât. She wished she could tell him that everything was going to be okay and that he shouldnât say things like that, except she never did. The blonde couldnât lie to him like that and she knew it. Instead, she wrapped her arms around his neck and sighed. âI know.â And she did. Paisley couldnât honestly say that she despised Beckâs parents and if he felt the same, then it was just one more thing the two of them had in common. They didnât need to say anything else, holding each other was more than enough to keep the pair of them content and thatâs how itâd always been.
