Speculate to Accumulate - Take Risks Take Chances Live Life
I grew up on hip-hop music, and one of my favourite lines of all time is "Money Talks, Bullshit Walks" why am i starting with this line I have no clue but hopefully I will build up to something. One of such bullshit talk has always been "Speculate to accumulate" which I hear even more now after the release of Wolf of wall street. I do not know about your understanding of the term, but to me it has always meant, you have to take risks, or in a two worded phrase - "Risk Taking". this is where the Bullshit walks comes in, because you and I all know someone who is always talking trash about going to do something, and their big plans, getting their hustle on, taking chances, making moves but never does. For a long time I was on of such people, literally building castles in the air. The truth is, to many people, risk taking is a pretty wild thing to do; especially where the long-term outcome is very uncertain thus most of us prefer to be chilled laid back, no worries, just going on with life or do things where they have a little more control on the outcome. But where is the fun in life without chances and risks? I'm pretty sure we can all look back on our life and pick a point, where we took a risk, regardless whether it was just trying out a new recipe, and telling a girl/ guy how you feel about them. My turning point came on after I took a job going door to door selling Sky packages on commission. I've always been a cool conservative person, extremely shy why I took such a role, I don't know apart from the fact it was the only job there. No sales no pay, its just that simple and i wasn't cutting it. I had a manager called Ryan, who once told me, Bobby; if you don't sell you don't eat. And I bet your fridge is fairly empty right now. I know you see yourself as too cool to push but let me tell you this, you do not know these motherfuckaz you are selling to. What's the worse that can happen? They'll say No, or not interested, shout abuse at you for knocking their door, a dog chases you,  but at the end of the day you do not know them so just dust their bullshit off your shoulders because at the next door you knock on you could be making some money. So you might as well go hard for it and have fun, It’s not 100% guaranteed. But you’ll never know if you don’t try.  Dude was right, I live in Leeds, knocking doors in Halifax what's the worse that could happen, that day I sold 6 sky packages. It was like a fxcking epiphany. Got me thinking, Have you ever noticed the people who seem to get ahead in life – the really successful people – had to take risks at some key point? Some of the dudes killing it in this job didn't give a damn, absurd tactics but come out with some serious numbers. That week changed a few things for me, but one thing stayed, with me, If you don't try you'll never know. A month after I decided to give me hobby a little more attention and step it up a notch, after all, you'll never know if you don't try. I took a chance, I put half of whatever money I got to starting my own cap brand. Its been a trip over the past couple of years (later posts) but today I'm a proud owner of Addixx, my business & cap brand which I'm launching in March and I'm still on the hustle, quit the door to door gig but still got a 9-5. Moral of the story here us, Here is the thing, your risk your future by doing nothing anyway, so might as well take a chance in doing something. Do not just take risks though, you have to remember to assess and review your options while you are on your journey and before you know it, you'll be on to something. I believe that having this mindset could put you on the right doing something amazing. My little Addixx journey has been exciting and officially launching on the 21st March 2013. Go check it out, and you bet your last dime I got some tricks and treats up my sleeve for the future. Remember, if you never try you'll never know. Â
