Gavin didn't even bother to knock. He pressed his head against Luvah’s door producing a soft thud. His thoughts were racing, and he didn’t want them to be. They gave away too much information for his liking.

Meet new friends, she said. Leave the house and do things, she said.

When he’d received that advice, he hadn’t counted on a new friend being an archaeologist that insisted on bringing him along to a dig. And he certainly hadn’t counted on being captured by some strange cult worshipers at said dig as a sacrifice to the... what had they called it? The Zoa? 

Well, now Gavin was sitting in the dark, hands bound by crude rope in front of him, as he looked at a doorway flickering with firelight. The door behind him, leading out into the night air and freedom, was bolted and locked. Terrified, he crept to the doorway, expecting perhaps some sort of chanting ritual, or maybe even a burning crucifix or something just as occult. 

Instead, he was met with rows and rows of statues of human figures. There were representations of every body type, every facial feature known to the human race, and no figure was the same. The only things they had in common was 1) they were all completely nude, and 2) they were unquestionably, unbelievably, irrevocably beautiful. Braziers and torches stood at perfect intervals, to give each statue just the right amount of gentle, wavering light. It almost made them look alive.
