In praise of older lenses -recently I have written about the ability of the Nikon D7100's ability to use non-cpu lenses. In the course of my reading so far they indicate that it may not work with zoom lenses. What it appears it won't do is give out the correct focal measurement in the exif data when zoomed past the initial setting. For this shot I used my manual Tamron SP LD 28-105mm f2.8 Aspherical Adaptall 2. I registered the initial focal length and max aperture and it appears that the electronic rangefinder ignores the focal length that was programmed in and measures the focal length set on the lens. It also tracks the correct aperture based on the initial setting.
This just saved me from having to purchase a 24-70mm f2.8. Whoo hoo!!!
