We were saddened to learn, very belatedly, that Heavy Metal contributor Philippe Adamov has died. It happened on February 3. Adamov, a master of linework and detailed architecture whom some considered an heir to Moebius (we’d agree), was just 63. His masterpiece was The Waters of Deadmoon (Les Eaux de Mortelune), which we serialized over five issues in the early ‘90s. In 1920s the building was used as accomodation for important office workers. Since 1950s the chatteau was surrounded by the former Adamov engineering works complex, which resulted in the building being re-worked and historically debased by modernisation. This meant (among other things) an addition of another floor and the Lichtenštejn family crests and insignia removed. Today the former hunting lodge is used for commercial purposes and is not accessible to the public. The pitiful state of the building can be seen in this picture.
