Listen/purchase: good news, I'm a nobody by Joshua Jesty
the Words:
word on the street is, you don't wanna date nobody in this town good news is I'm a nobody you've been with every kind of type and they've all just brought you down good news is I'm a nobody there's nothing I can do, to take anything away from you so you might as well hang out with me just a little while longer please maybe next time tired of all the games they play like your heart is some lost and found good news is I'm a nobody tired of saying I'm sorry, tired of being judged as a clown good news is I'm a nobody word on the street is you don't wanna date nobody in this town good news is I'm a nobody good news is I'm a nobody bad news is I don't wanna be nobody to you
the What:
thereâs nothing quite like wit and self deprecation to make a song here or there.  This was simply a retort I said to myself in reply to a statement one of my female friends made about ânever wanting to date nobody in this town ever againâ. Â
itâs a very simple sweet song with the best of intentions and the fullest of acknowledgements that the person singing this knows full well that thereâs no chance heâll be considered for courtship.
It kind of hits all sides of the spectrum. Â On one hand, itâs sincere, on the other itâs tongue in cheek, thereâs hope, thereâs sadness. Â Itâs sweet and sour... and chicken.
the How:
written in a few minutes, I picked up a cheap banjo I had just acquired and then quickly laid it down. Â I wish I had been more disciplined and gotten a better take. Â Iâve tried to re record this song a few times, then forgotten about it, then tried again. Â As of now, for all its flaws, I feel that this is the best take Iâve gotten, or at least the most honest and immediate take of it, right at its conception, when I felt it and related to it the most. Â I want feeling people, not perfect pitch... though Iâll take that and feeling if I can get it.
One day Iâll get it right.  One thing Iâve found worth doing if youâre doing a solo acoustic number, whether youâre performing it into a 10,000 dollar mic or a cell phone, take the time to really do as many takes as it takes to get the right performance.  Youâll thank yourself later.  I used to rush so many of my recordings in the excitement of having written something, but I encourage you to take your time with the songs.  look at old session logs from the beatles or the beach boys.  Even with stellar musicians on hand there were often 12-20 takes before the one with the right feel was captured.  Thatâs the art of recording.  Sure, we can pitch correct and quantize everything until it sounds perfect, even if a band is terrible... and thatâs one art for sure.... but committing a performance to tape that youâll never have to question.... take Jeff Buckleyâs interpretation of âhallelujahâ... even if we all found out they had to correct one or two notes using studio magic it wouldnât take away from how breathtaking that particular performance is.  Itâs undeniable.  We need more of that back in the ears of listeners.  So take the time to make it breathtaking.  Do donât as I did.  Get it right and youâll never have it wrong.

There's something about acoustic performances that let you hear artist so much clearer. I use to like One Direction but because of this performance alone, I can honestly say I appreciate they're talent so much more.
RK Spam Explanation...
Dear followers,
Sorry about my recent Relient K spam. If you have't already realized, they are my absolute favorite.Â
Today I was diggin around trying to find some more news on their upcoming album Collapsible Lung. Sad to say that I found a little bit more than I would of liked. The album is in fact finished, and will be released soon. As i read deeper I found out that both Jo(h)ns and Ethan will not be accompanying the band on their tour... This raises a lot of questions among the fans of RK. Some say this is the early signs of a break up. Others hope it to simply be a way to build hype for the new album and tour.
Just the thought of my favorite band breaking up makes me want to cry. And I can honestly say, the day that happens, I know I will ball my eyes out for sure.
I have been a fan of RK since around the age of nine. Growing up in Texas with the sounds of The Anatomy of the Tongue in Cheek blasting through my headphones. And Mmhmm following me to higher elevations with our move to Colorado. This band, their morals, and lyrics have gotten me through a lot. Created some memories that I will never forget and will last forever. I feel as if this band is apart of me. I don't mean to get all corny on you guys, but it's the truth. I don't know what I would have done without them.
I have yet to meet them personally. This will make a break up just that much harder. I really hope that is not the case. I can say that I am glad to see the two original band members Matthew Thiessen and Matthew Hoopes are sticking with it. Matthew Thiessen is one of my biggest role models, and I wish I could be as cool as he is.
Their last (non-cover) album Forget and Not Slow Down is my favorite album of all time, and will be hard to top. I have faith in these guys, and am absolutely stoked for Collapsible Lung.
In conclusion,
I am sorry to any followers who don't like Relient K or were just annoyed by my recent spam. But it had to happen. I am on a emotional roller coaster right now. I need to vent somehow... I'm just sitting around my house on my day off, in my comfy sweater, and jammin to RK acoustics.
