Lowering the heat so as not to burn the food, he reached for the cupboard nearby to get some medicine. He felt his eyelids getting heavier and hoped Harriet wouldn’t mind if he had an early night. As he popped the top off the medicine bottle, he noticed his grip feeling lighter than usual. Opening his eyes again, they immediately widened in shock as to the reason why. A three-fingered claw had taken the place of his hand, covered in shadowy purple fur that had begun to steadily creep up his arm. A striking pain in his spine caused him to collapse onto the ground, knocking the pan onto the floor in the process.

The sudden noise caused Harriet to wake up in the other room. Rolling off the recliner and rubbing her eyes in tiredness, she made her way towards the kitchen to investigate. “Dad?”, she called out, “Is dinner ready yet? I’m starting to get hung... ry…”. Her sentence trailed off as she saw the state of her father. The fur had spread all over his body now and he was growing and stretching in ways no human should. “Dad!”, she cried out, rushing over to see if she could help. “What’s going on?!? What’s happening to you?!?”

He turned towards her, his clothes ripped to shreds and viscous, yellow tears flowing from the glowing slits that were once his eyes. “H̴̪̆ã̵ͅr̴͙̆ŕ̴̢.̶̜̄.̵͖͑.̷̝͊ ̵̬̍H̶̱̒a̸̖̎r̷̤͘r̴̫̉ȋ̶̩e̵͈̐t̸̲͠”, his voice distorted as he choked out the words, “I̵̦͗t̴̟͝'̵͕͊s̷͉͝ ̴̲͐D̸̬̅a̸̮͝d̵͈̿.̸̤͝ ̷̺̊P̸͚͝ḻ̶͘e̸͎͋a̸̛̤ṡ̶̟e̵͔͝.̸̲͆.̷̜͐.̶̖̊ ̴̢̓H̸̘̄ĕ̶̢l̶͍̅p̷̰̌ ̴̑͜m̶͇̑e̷͓͂” Harriet slowly backed away from the creature that used to be her father, his form warped beyond all recognition. Luka reached out to his daughter, attempting to maneuver the limp ropes his arms had become.
