SHS From a Student’s Perspective
Being in senior high school shows you how the curriculum really feels, not just how it’s explained.
the academic track feels heavy.. there are many subjects, exams, and requirements, but not all of them feel useful. A lot of learning is about memorizing and passing tests instead of understanding or applying lessons to real life. Once you’re placed in a strand, you’re expected to adjust even if it doesn’t fully fit you. The TVL track focuses on skills, which is good. But the way it’s handled isn’t always fair. some lessons feel outdated, and the certificates don’t always seem helpful after graduation. TVL students are also often judged, even though skill-based learning is just as important. overall, the SHS curriculum has good ideas but weak execution. it focuses more on finishing requirements than truly preparing students for college, work, or real life.
