My upcoming and current commissions have given me an excellent excuse to order some new fiber from my favorite supplier!Â
I discovered Abstract Fiber early on in my introduction to felting--a local yarn shop used to carry several of their solid colors. They don't carry it anymore (they've stopped carrying any spinning supplies), but I was already hooked! Now I order from them directly. The colors are rich and vibrant and they always arrive smelling sheepy and fresh instead of smelling like the dye. In the past I've always bought merino, but this time I tried out a new type of fiber they offer called targhee and I'm thrilled with the look and feel of it. It's not as silky and doesn't have same luster as merino, but that means it felts up fast and solid without losing any of the richness of the color.
From left to right I have: Sunset Targhee, Fade to Black Targhee, Chocolate Rainbow Targhee, and my beloved standby, Solid Turquoise Merino. Turquoise is the only color I've ever used up my entire 4oz of and had to buy again!
