Headcanon: One time when they were fighting a serpentess, Noctis unfortunately got hit with a toad effect. Transformed as a toad and the serpentess defeated, Ignis said that a maiden's kiss would do the trick. Gladio told Prompto to pucker up jokingly. Prompto, being dense, picked up toad Noctis and kissed him on the lips to Gladio and Ignis's disbelief and laughter.... But the kicker is that it actually worked and Noctis was human again.
I’m gonna lose it this is hilarious. Noct is pissed that he’s a toad but he just has to deal with it for a bit. But then suddenly Prompto is holding him and he’s being kissed. He can’t say anything so internally he’s like “Prom don’t do this to yourself.” But it fucking works, and then they’re kissing for real, and everyone is shocked, Prom and Noct are still standing there with their lips together for a solid ten extra seconds, Gladio and Ignis are lowkey losing it in the back. It’s a mess.
The funny part is that they hadn’t confessed yet and so that is what makes them do it. And Gladio forever calls them the princess and the frog because of course he does.
