I’m gonna make this public if you don’t mind! I definitely try to know everything about my characters, they’re important to me. I take pride that I can answer some of these really tough questions! So thank you! 

So when Elle is kissing his neck, I’m going to be honest, his mind is blank as fuck. All he can focus on is that her lips are on his neck, and that when he would eventually go to the bathroom he would not only see hickeys, he would also see her lipstick all over his neck, and for some reason that makes him especially crazy. So yes, his mind went blank because his body started acting of it’s own accord (the actual brushing across her arse comes to mind) 

there was definitely attraction! but at the same time they’ve always had insane chemistry, them being like that with one another (besides the neck kissing) wasn’t anything out of the ordinary because they tended to just act like they were together when they went out clubbing if neither of them wanted to take someone else home! it just made things a lot easier! (hopefully that makes sense) 

what’s holding him back is not only are they both tipsy, and the only place they would be able to go back to is a hostel where they were sharing a room with like two other people, but she’s also still in this weird phase of not wanting a relationship at all. And harry wants a relationship, like he doesn’t want a part of Elle, he wants all of her, you know? 

klsjafkldajf kay ily. so it’s funny you ask about inspiration bc opan was born from a writing ask meme thing. basically everyone was sending random, off the wall au’s into writers asks like “this vs this?” and they would pick. and i sent essie (opan’s/my first supporter who, unfortunately, i don’t think writes fic anymore but pls correct me if i’m wrong) “finding a roommate on craigslist or neighbors who hate each other?” and her response made me think of a liam who suddenly needed a roommate and, despite not wanting to, puts an ad on craigslist and a stevie who just needed to get away from her family.

from chapter to chapter sometimes i reblog something and add things in the tags and i’m like....ok that needs to go in a chapter. like in ch 8 i pulled a scene entirely from something i wrote in the tags on a picture of liam. anything could inspire me and if i’m stuck i will definitely go in the opan tag and pick and choose things to add in. 

i think that’s my favorite thing about writing this fic. i have an outline but it’s not as rigid or as involved as, say, the outline for hesitant and hopeful or across mountains or the motocrossed au that i have yet to finish. opan is more like now that you’re here, resolutions, and everything from the hot chocolate universe bc i know how they’re going to end, and i know a few scenes that i absolutely want to include, but there’s nothing really piecing those things together. and i think that’s the fun part of those fics. i can really play around with what i want to happen and if my feelings about the fic change i can remove scenes/dialogue/entire chapters/etc that i no longer want to happen. that’s why sometimes i’m in the tags talking shit about how maybe stevie and liam won’t end up together knowing damn well they’re endgame but that’s beside the fact lmao. that’s also how opan started as a 30 chapter fic and is looking like it’ll be a 15-20 chapter fic (surprise opan is almost over whoops).

So happy to hear that you’ve enjoyed what I’ve shared of Elementary so far! I’m glad they could bring you a little cozy comfort during your Sunday afternoon. Writing Rolly has been a bit of a stress reliever over the school year and I can’t wait to get back to telling her story, once I’ve got a little more free time to dive in and finish part five.

As for Niall…he’s been a good fit as an elementary school music teacher, and he definitely has some baggage but he’s such a great guy to write about. I’m excited to explore him and his dynamic with Rolly even further.
