After my post about my class and intersex and after reading comments left I am just so frustrated. It was pointed out how clinical information about intersex is. It made me realize that applied to gender and somewhat to sexuality! I think at one point the textbook even said something along the lines of 'but we will focus primarily on those with typical development' regarding gender and sex! I think gender was only mentioned in passing not truly touched upon while intersex was strictly reduced to what it biologically meant to be intersex. Like wtf this is a psychology book?! Where is the information on potential psychological impacts?! This textbook has had some very questionable statements and i think this really drives home the point

My classmates are boring. My class was given these discussion posts and we were assigned the topic sexual orientation, sexuality or gender. Those assigned gender were asked to think what it would be like if they were raised as the opposite sex or as intersex. All of those assigned chose opposite sex. Like come on! Surely everyone thinks what it must be like to be the opposite sex at some point! But intersex? I'm sure the thought rarely crosses anyone's mind. Some people don't even know about intersex individuals! I just think that trying to think of gender from an intersex individuals point of view is way more interesting and thought provoking. I'm very salty i wasn't given gender as my topic
