A Word On... Getting Stuck
Wow, I'm going to write something that's actually relevant to my life... that's kind of a new one.
As some of you might know, I'm doing Nanowrimo. That's kind of been a shock to my system because I've never written that much in so little time. My latest big project (besides my WIP) took 4.5 months to complete, and it's about 60,000 words. So, obviously, I hit some road blocks the beginning of this week. This road block is usually called 'writer's block.'
I had only written like 500 words that day, and my goal-orientated (and slightly OCD) mind wouldn't let me just stop there. I wrote about 1,700 words by powering through it basically. I literally wrote until 11:59 to get there. This problem has persisted, but then a stroke of genius hit me today about the ending.
This has basically been me rambling (what's new?), but my point is that you need to stick with it. It might suck, and you might want to erase every word you write/type (don't do that by the way) but if you stick with it, the rewards are many.
(Also, keep in mind that these things do not work for everyone by any means, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try it.)
