Background: Ralph was born into a bigger family on the Europa Lunar Colony some 60-ish years ago. He found his passion as a doctor and later started researching cognitive science. He became one of the leading experts into the experimental field of cognitive transfer science, though his work seemingly made no impact on the field.

25 to 30 years ago, he died in a vehicle accident. In the current year of 2245, he woke up on the SS Grantham thanks to Dr. Evelyn and Zizi, now a program and an succesful full cognitive transfer, the first and only of its kind.

While he was alive, his research had progressed with quite a lot of success and as he was starting experiments, his work began to ruffle some feathers. Ralph doesn't know if it was the ruling body afraid of the potential of his work, or a company protecting their bottom line, but he knew he was going to die when he made the full cognitive scan on himself. He died a few days later.

His work was wiped, all progress lost with the exception of one file. Thanks to their effort to erase all his work, they had no way of figuring out why they couldn't delete this one file. It was instead stored onboard the SS Grantham to get lost in the vast systems or potentially with the ship itself should that ever happen.

In 2245, Dr. Evelyn Drasilson had Zizi directly interact with the file, causing the AI program to activate Ralph's work and letting it spread throughout the system. It allowed Ralph to gain consciousness. In order to hide from potential danger and keep Evelyn out of trouble, he is hiding on the SS Grantham as an experimental AI medical program meant to imitate human emotions.

7. Describe the shoes they’re wearing. Ralph wears low-key practical shoes. He has a few different ones, but usually the main thing is that they are comfortable and durable. No dress shoes for him unless on rare occasions. Think a step above casual sneakers in terms of appearance. He has shoes he wears specifically for work, which tend to stay in the browns or blacks. His non-work shoes tend to be a bit more worn and not as well kept.

8. Describe the place where they sleep.  Ralph sleeps in the bedroom of his apartment. He's the type of person who generally only uses his bedroom for one thing - sleeping and getting dressed, which means it is pretty sparce. He has a queen size bed with a basic wooden frame. A nightstand with an alarm clock, a light and a book he rarely gets around to reading. He uses a duvet, a habit from his upbringing and from his parents. He has a section of wall with pictures of his family and some friends, but it old and he tends to not update it. Most of his memorabilia he keeps hidden away in a box in the back of the wardrobe.

9. What is their favorite holiday? Easter. Christmas holds a special place in his heart too, but the older he gets the more overwhelming and stressful it can be. He has a very large family which therefore includes a lot of inlaws and kids, and planning is often too much.

10. What objects do they always carry around with them? Ralph carries his wallet (thin one), key bundle and his phone at all times. He also have gotten in the habit of carrying two or three bandaids in a pocket, just in case.

4. Do they have any scars or tattoos? Ralph has no tattoos but he does have scars. His nose, while not scarred technically, was broken when he was young which has added to it's more unique shape. He has a smaller scar on his jawline from a drunken accident during med-school, which is hidden by the beard. Some smaller ones here and there. The biggest scar is on his right knee, where he was shot. The bullet went through so he has a bigger scar on the back of his knee as well, also with scars from surgery.

5. What was the last time they cried, and under what circumstances?

Ralph rarely cries, not because he feels above it, simply because at this point he has settled down well and through his life experienced much loss, which doesn't happen as much anymore. He is mostly recovered from his various issues. The last he cried was at the 1 year anniversary of splitting up with his ex-fiancée.

Ralph grooms more than the average middle-aged man, most likely. Most evident on his beard, which he makes sure is well groomed and in order. He takes a sense of pride in his appearance, as a way of feeling in control. It's a habit born from military service and his PTSD recovery.

He takes care of his beard usually once a day after a shower. He takes great care of the health and especially shape of it, thought he has been recently letting it grow a little more. He may let it grow a bit in the future.

Ralph loves praise, not just in a sexual way. He never got any sort of praise from Hauer, just threats and insults, so any sort of praise would mean the world to him. He would accept being called puppy (though he might be confused at first since his thinking would be "I'm not a puppy, I don't think?) But he would catch on that it's a sweet name! And pets are always welcome, he loves any sort of affection like that!

Hmm, for Ralph and Hauer...

So Ralph has nearly killed Hauer a handful of times. He has flung acid in his face, and he also nearly ripped out a chunk of his shoulder. Hauer keeps Ralph locked up, usually by a chain around his throat connected to the wall, in the basement of an abandoned building on some land that Hauer bought. Ralph sleeps on an old dirty twin size mattress on the floor and is usually fed old (sometimes rotting) meat.

Hauer tends to manipulate Ralph, knowing that Ralpb is very naive and trusting. He will tell him that what he does to Ralph is for his own good and that he does it because he cares for Ralph and no one will ever care for him like Hauer does. This is why Ralph hasnt just straight up killed him, though he totally could because Hauer is just a tiny scrawny German and Ralph I a big boy.
