Why Are People So Weird?
You never run into people you want to run into; it’s always random. Then it’s awkward and you don’t know what to say. “Oh, how is such-and-such?” It’s like a first date, but worse--because you didn’t expect it. It’s like “Hi, you remember me?” and your brain is like “who is this, is this Jim’s fiancee?” and it’s actually your second cousin. Your brain is trying too hard to think and the it suddenly comes through, and you're like “OH!” halfway through the conversation. It happens to me at work a lot. A lot of people won’t leave when you’re trying to go. Normally, on my own time, I would talk to you more, but when I’m at work I don’t really want to talk. You have to explain who they are to your coworkers, and then they’ll put their number in your phone and expect you to call them when you really don’t want to. Nothing against the person, but you feel forced to communicate. It doesn’t make any sense. It’s like a hostage negotiation; you have to call them the next day OR ELSE.
