Job hunting while disabled
I honestly believe the most terrifying time while job hunting disabled is after getting the job offer and making your disclosure.Â
All my paperwork is in, all my professional registrations are in, I even got a report from an occupational health doc to say there are no limits on my duties as long as they allow my service dog to stay with me.Â
I have lost jobs at this point before.Â
I know my rights. I know they can not legally rescind the offer because of my disability or service dog. Hell, half my training is in advocating for disadvantaged populations.Â

So I sit here, a perfectly functional disabled individual with a Masters degree in a high need field willing and raring to work in an ablest world that may not give me a chance because they are too scared. Maybe I’ll get the call tomorrow and all will be grand. Or maybe I get the call with ‘we found a discrepancy with some of your paperwork.’Â
I have lost jobs at this point before
But I have to keep trying.Â
