WEEK 1&2 (INTERVIEW WITH ARKI STUDENTS & PLANNING OF OUR POSSIBLE PRODUCT
WEEK 1- FEBRUARY 21,2023 10:00 AM
As soon as the group arrived at school, we directly formulated some questions that we wanted to ask for our interview that might help us come up with and generate a future product for this course.
1. What are your daily struggles as an Architecture Student?
2. What specific things that can solve these struggles?
3. What is the most convenient/cheapest architectural tool you have?
4. What is the most expensive tool you have yet most useful?
We interviewed some random architecture students. We find it easy to find interviewees because there are a lot of them in the CEA building, there may be some students that rejected us and refused to be interviewed because they were shy but there are also a lot of students that are willing to share their insights and participated in our interview.
Hypothesis: The group thought that we would gather different answers and ideas.
Experiment: The group interviewed seven different architecture students.
Result: It turned out that most of their answers have a lot in common.
Action: The group evaluated those answers and focused on the majority's response to coming up with an idea.
WEEK 2- FEBRUARY 28,2023 10:00 PM
The ABCD group decided to have a virtual meeting via Google Meet regarding the interview that we established in Week 1 and also for us to formulate some strategies that will help us in this course and get on track. Later that night we heard the suggestions of our group mates about their proposed product and it turned out amazingly.
Kier suggested that we should produce something that we named TAPE MEASURE, this is a masking tape marked with standard distances in centimeters/inches. This idea was based on our past interview because a lot of our interviewee's responses to the question "What is the most expensive tool you have yet most useful?" was a T-square. For the proposed tape measure, the students can do it themselves (DIY) with a measuring tool, just take the tape and paste it onto something solid. With this product, a student can have a convenient and useful measuring tool at a low cost.
Oliver then suggested that we'll produce a NOTEBOOK that its cover page can turn into/embedded with scaled rulers, triangles, and a protractor. The notebook is also comprised of schedule packs, a traditional way to make the organization of class schedules and upcoming activities so that a student will not be lost on track and do their tasks accordingly. This idea was based on two of our interview questions "What is the most convenient/cheapest architectural tool you have?" because someone answered "a 12-inch ruler", and "What are your daily struggles as an Architecture Student?" to which the majority responded "time management". With this product, a student has already a notebook that will help him/her organize his/her schedules and also has built-in measuring tools that are very useful.
The group was aiming to come up with three products and as the brainstorming goes on, the group decided to consider a cutting material which is a CUTTER with MEASUREMENTS, this is to make cutting easier and more precise.
I found this meeting important because it allows us to share our ideas, and agree and disagree with this and that in real time. After the meeting, we feel at ease that we already come up with three amazing ideas that we believe are achievable and will sustain for many years as we thoroughly planned this out in the first place. We took some photos of ourselves while in the meeting for documentation purposes and we said goodbye to each other feeling ready for the next level of our startup. 🟡👄🟡
