Love this band, they’re the bees’ knees. Channelling everything from late 60s psychedelia, ska and reggae rock, with retro garage pop, from their musical island in the middle of the English Channel. This 2007 release of throwback indie, instrumentally-focused, music is perhaps not so surprising given their Isle of Wight home which, despite some claiming it’s stuck in the 1950s, has been the site of many a legendary music performance since the first IoW Festival kicked open the farm gates in 1968. As an album it’s an easy listen and builds on its predecessor, Free The Bees, which came up on my randometer in July 2018. There are no dud tracks, and it’s a perfect music to kick back and relax too – during a car journey, or whilst enjoying a nice cold beer at the beach, or whilst manhandling work spreadsheets during a pandemic lockdown, in my recent case.
