i did try and think of non-aftg ships but genuinely my mind is blank....they definitely exist but god knows where they are right now so we are left with aftg ships for now.
also i tried writing about kandriel but i could not think of a single original thing to say, but please know they are my ride or die ship and i will mourn the kandriel draft for the rest of my life.
so i decided to talk about a few of my other favourites, of which there are many because i am incapable of loving only one version of these characters, and im a rarepair slut to my core. so pls have some incoherent thoughts about kateaaron, kevjean, and kevichirou

i can't lie and kateaaron were my slowburn otp, i didn't particularly care for them when i read the books but time and the beautiful writings of my moots on them have converted me wholeheartedly. i don't think many things in these books could be classed as romantic, but kateaaron to me and peak true romance. they are the definition of commitment to me, and about choosing the person you love. i think one of the most romantic parts of them is the fact they choose each other again and again despite everything stacked against them. their love and their relationship is very deliberate, its an active choice to be with one another. also i love that we only get snippets of who katelyn is throughout the books, it gives us so much more room to work out who she might be. to explore what kind of person would stand by their partner so unconditionally, and what kind of person she must be for aaron to risk everything to be with her. i love picturing future kateaaron, exhausted from a long day at the hospital, so relieved to be going home because they've created a home that feels safe and loving. nobody raises voices in their household, bad days aren't met with frustration or arguments but with space and patience and an understanding that can only come from a love that they had to fight for, and an appreciation that life isn't easy but its easier together.

oh kevjean my beloved failmarriage couple. i want them to be messy, i want them to ripping each other apart whilst unable to let each other go. they bring a divorced energy to everything they do and nobody wants to be in the room when they fall out or when they make up. its about the fact that nobody else understands the other the same as they do. their love was born of pain and i think loving each other is a painful existence for them but one they can't live without. in my head they're magnets that can't help but falling back together over and over again. its so compelling. i want them to be happy, don't get me wrong, and they both deserve softness and healing. but i also want them to be raw and real and covered in blood, only allowing themselves to be hurt by the other because they think its deserved.

look. mafia dom daddy ichirou lives rent free in my head and i won't apologise for that and neither will kevin. there is nothing more enticing than an illicit love affair and i think kevichirou offer that in bucket loads. do I think they're good for each other? nope. however, do i think they're hot together? yes. also i think it would be the biggest fuck you to riko for kevin to fall into bed with ichirou, and i love the idea that kevin seeks it out as a fucked up way of healing from his past. in a way i could see ichirou struggling to view kevin as something more than an investment and a means to an end, but eventually being won over by beautiful submissive kevin who falls to his knees for him so perfectly. also there is something about mobwive kevin that is so real for him? he was made to be somebodies eye candy, he is the beautiful woman on ichirou's arm while ichirou runs his empire. i also think kevin has the compartmentalisation skills to be able to handle the dark side of it all, he's capable of just embracing ichirou's love (or lust rather) without getting caught up in the morality of it all. idk i just need like a thousand more fics with them being unhinged and hot. just know that if Jean or Andrew ever found out, Kevin would be locked in a dungeon for the rest of his life because he clearly cannot be trusted in the big wide world alone yk.
