We met earlier this year @aaf_lagos where we both participated in a magical open mic evening. Afterwards we decided to collaborate in some way or another. . THE COLLAB: Around August this year I composed a musical piece on the theme of beginnings & endings in Lagos. For the lyrics we decided to alternate between Afrikaans & Yoruba. We then took a series of experimental photos with the talented Lagosian photographer @jide_yeni that we're releasing soon... The piece is done in a spoken word style for the recording. I'm checking in @olakobak's otherwordly studio this weekend to record the track! 🌠 . On 25 November @dunkelder_teater, Gemini will be collaborating with me 'off stage' ....we're going to share fragments of the piece with the audience in an alternative manner. You'll have to join us on the day to see how we overcome the logistical hurdles of a 'distance collab'...😉 But we have a plan! Bookings: [email protected] . Yusuf Balogun Gemini is an awardwinning page and performance poet, cultural enthusiast and radical commentator. He is a triple slam winner on streak and has a debut poetry video to his credit — Lagidigba. He has five poetry audios on the release respectively Ori, Lagidigba, Ipado, Agbe and Teni n Teni. He has his poem featured in "84 Delicious Bottles Of Wine For Wole Soyinka" edited by Odega Shawa and Onyeka Nwelue. He has performed across states in Nigeria and was recently awarded by Yoruba Celeb Award as the most promising act of the year.
