All that you are meant to be.
You are a brilliant star,
You are looked up to near and far.
Of never fearing or feeling dismay.
I wish I could look and be
There for you as you are for me,
But I am scared and you are not,
So I’ll forever walk as you trot.
You will overcome every obstacle,
Even if they fail to be logical,
And you will enjoy every ounce of pain
Because it always has something to gain.
Shed your light, my dear,
Shed your coat and finally fear
Let our own earthly beings encompass you.
Your time will one day sever
Of life and no longer be moored
On this rusty, earthly plain
And take your place away from the strain.
I would be beside you in another life;
One where we can live without strife
Or fear and other silly things
That would see us with broken wings.
For now I will hold you in my dreams,
And I will be there to muffle your screams
When you awake from every nightmare-
I will always look after you with gentle care.
I will watch from afar as you take the lead-
You take your place- and I will never plead
For you to look at me with wistful eyes,
For you are where you belong- not with lies,
But with heartfelt love of others
And the warm embrace of your brothers.
You are on a pedestal that I have placed
You on and you are forever encased
In that fragile, ever cracking tomb
Of my own heartbreak and doom.
All I ask is for a single moment of your
Time and then I’ll lead myself to the door
And I’ll ne’er return to this place
All I want is for you to be happy
And safe, though it may sound sappy,
And for you to be everything you are
With nothing holding you back- no bar
To block your path or where you’re going
And for no-one to row the boat you’re rowing.
And that is all that I can do-
It is all that I can say,
To say I’ll love you til my last day.
