I love the contrast between Shu Takumi’s and Kumiko Suekane’s different Headcanons for exactly what kind of Art Phoenix was studying for in college.

Cause, like, Takumi links his idea of Phoenix being a Theatre Kid to his overdramatic body language in Court. Maybe even implying that he deliberately enters ‘Acting Mode’ in Court to cope with the stress? And even if Takumi doesn’t directly dwell on it, there’s also a nice melodramatic layer to all of this where Phoenix was maybe even planning to move to England for his Theatre Career. So it’s like… If Phoenix hadn’t stumbled on that article about Demon Prosecutor Edgeworth, not only would he not be a Lawyer, he might actually be on a whole different continent, with basically zero chance to ever reunite with Edgeworth or meet the Feys or meet Trucy or meet basically anyone in AA’s cast. It really emphasizes Phoenix’s decision to become a Lawyer as a truly Fated Crossroads kinda moment.

(And also, obviously ‘The Great Ace Attorney’ was Not a Thing in 2005, but it does retroactively work really well with Ryunosuke’s existence as, like, yeah, Phoenix’s motivations for being a Lawyer aren’t connected to his Great-Grandfather… but maybe knowing the stories about his great-grandpa Ryunosuke working and living for a long while in England is what made Phoenix interested in doing the same?)

And then on the other hand you have Kumiko Suekane just being “he’s just like me for real”
