Star Wars: Poe Dameron (2016-) #28

A-wings can be blue or red, but Shara’s shows up a couple of times in Shattered Empire, most notably on the last page of the series, parked in the lefthand corner, and you can tell it’s one of the red ones. I also like this conception of them, but idk the artist’s sources for the info, so: grain of salt. I also like them how they compare A-wings to TIE fighters, which are somewhat equivalent for the Empire: both are fast and hyperresponsive, though apparently the A-wing is even more so. Which might explain why Poe’s so confident in his ability to fly a TIE, given that he learned to fly on something that’s apparently on even more of a hairtrigger.

POE DAMERON’S first ship was his mother’s RZ-1 A-wing. It was a good, tight little fighter, much repaired and marked with scars from its years of service. An interceptor, the A-wing had been built for speed rather than strength. Twin-mounted laser canons on either side of the hull spat enough firepower to settle any dogfight—dogfight— provided the fighter jockey on the stick could gain advantage— and two concussion missile launchers mounted on the fore of the hull could give anything shy of a capital ship a very bad day. It was staggeringly fast at sublight speed. It was more like an armed cockpit with engines stuck to its back than a more traditional fighter, hyperresponsive and overpowered and meant to be flown solo, without copilot or astromech support.

Even though we never saw the pilots of these two A-wings, I really appreciate the fact that the team took the time to customize the paint job on them.
