Star Wars: Poe Dameron (2016-) #28
Poe Dameron, volunteering to risk his life before the Battle of DâQar so that the Resistance can evacuate with minimal casualtiesÂ
POE DAMERON FUN FACT #1 -his first ship was his motherâs RZ-1 A-wing
A-wings can be blue or red, but Sharaâs shows up a couple of times in Shattered Empire, most notably on the last page of the series, parked in the lefthand corner, and you can tell itâs one of the red ones. I also like this conception of them, but idk the artistâs sources for the info, so: grain of salt. I also like them how they compare A-wings to TIE fighters, which are somewhat equivalent for the Empire: both are fast and hyperresponsive, though apparently the A-wing is even more so. Which might explain why Poeâs so confident in his ability to fly a TIE, given that he learned to fly on something thatâs apparently on even more of a hairtrigger.Â
More on A-wings:
POE DAMERONâS first ship was his motherâs RZ-1 A-wing. It was a good, tight little fighter, much repaired and marked with scars from its years of service. An interceptor, the A-wing had been built for speed rather than strength. Twin-mounted laser canons on either side of the hull spat enough firepower to settle any dogfightâdogfightâ provided the fighter jockey on the stick could gain advantageâ and two concussion missile launchers mounted on the fore of the hull could give anything shy of a capital ship a very bad day. It was staggeringly fast at sublight speed. It was more like an armed cockpit with engines stuck to its back than a more traditional fighter, hyperresponsive and overpowered and meant to be flown solo, without copilot or astromech support.

The Last Jedi Opening Scene Revealed? Evacuation Of DâQar!?!
Even though we never saw the pilots of these two A-wings, I really appreciate the fact that the team took the time to customize the paint job on them.

Heraâs A-Wing is awesomely personalized.
Look at the red âTwin Lekkusâ marking on the A-Wingâs nose.
And of course the âMoonbeamâ Pin-Up illustration just behind the cockpit.
This is hers now.
