“Hey.” He said softly, to alert the man he was coming up behind him.  He sat on the edge of the bed, a hand lightly brushing the back of Oz’s shoulders, not quite sure if he was allowed to. “Hey, it’s okay. It’s okay.” He soothed, rubbing tentative circles on the mob bosses back.

Then Oswald slumped against him and tentative went to hell. Peter wrapped his arms around the man, burying his face in his hair and letting him sob. He kissed the top of his head, not knowing what else to do to make him feel better.

“What happened? What’s wrong?” He whispered, knowing Oz would answer if he wanted, and not willing to press him if he didn’t.

There was an indigent giggle that left Oswald when he’d pushed him over into the leaves. It had looked so tempting and he’d thought it would be a good idea, so when Richie grinned and teased, he felt relieved. Returning the grin, he began to back up,

                   “Oh no, don’t you dare. That’s not a fair fight, I’m crippled.”

Richie sat up, patting the crispy leaves next to him as if he was inviting Oswald to join him.

“Nuh-uh sweetie, come here, it’s nice and soft...” His grin widened into a full blown cheshire smile. He rolled to his knees and rose slowly, not bothering to brush the leaves and dirt off. “Nevermind, I’ll come to you.” He paused, reaching for his lover with a dirt-stained hand, wriggling his fingers. “That’s that fancy Italian fabric, right? Looks nice.”

“Well, consider me as one that isn’t going to hurt you, monsieur.”

      The Penguin broke out of Arkham, it was all over the news- at least, in Gotham. Where Martin was? Nothing. There was just still no letters back from his dad, no calls.. nothing. Was his dad in trouble? Or.. did was he just some sort of phase for the man? Like a kid getting a hamster or something.. 

      So many worries and thoughts weighted on the boy shoulders, and he didn’t dare bring them up to his new care-giver. He didn’t want them to worry, nor did he want their ‘comfort’ of saying Oswald would get back to him soon. It was all the same tone he heard when he was in the orphanage. Same tone, different lies.
