The Girl With The Twisted Ankle

Can we retire this trope? A pretty girl dramatically collapses on the floor, and like a simpering, fragile waif is somehow rendered useless for the rest of the fight/party/whatever. It’s only used as a device for the hero/antihero to show how heroic and protective he is (and it’s always a ‘he’ in these situations for some reason).

I just watched a woman on screen twist her ankle, fall down and dramatically drag herself across the floor on her belly. Of course the antihero comes to the rescue and while he carries the offender off to their demise, she just sits there - absolutely useless - until he comes back and tries to help her up, but can’t because again she collapses with her big helpless doe eyes brimming with glittering fucking unshed tears. A few minutes later she was running btw, barely a limp, no problem at all. 

The demons have the same level of impulse control as the children, which really evens out the odds.

If you’re a teenager and your family is targeted by ruthless and sadistic enemies, don’t tell your mom - because apparently it’s easier for you to deal with her being murdered than her knowing what you’re doing past your bedtime?

Everybody is Straight Vibes - the exception being the one gay couple who gets a tiny bit of screen time only to get written out almost entirely upon reveal. More variety would be appreciated.

Dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb - the sheer amount of stupid decisions is staggering, possible only by never involving adults. Literally anything is possible.

And while we talk about stupid decisions - why haven’t anyone tried the echo key to bring the dad back? That sounds like a decision on par with all the other horrible ones they make.

I love the mom - because she’s a fuck up who managed to pull her shit together. She’s badass and wonderful and pitiful and self loathing and her kids adore her.
