She crept up behind him, not as quiet as she certainly could be so as to not risk startling him into action, but quiet enough to keep the subtle calm in the air stable. Once she reached him, she wrapped her arms around him as she leaned against him, her chest to his back, warm puffs of breath left her lips to ghost against his neck. Though there were faint lines around her eyes, she seemed to be as coherent and sane of mind as ever when she spoke. "Simon...how would you feel about a cabin getaway? After everything here, I'd say we both deserve a bit of rest, and a place out in nature sounds lovely, don't you think?"
@a-bottomless-curse / KAYDEN.
He flinches a bit at her touch, certainly not because she surprised him but rather because of the tenderness behind it. It strikes him how confident she was in her words... After everything here; as if this were just another transitory moment in their lives. It's a certainty that he admires in her but also finds intimidating, something that makes him dread a future in which Kayden would reach her moment of rest without him by her side.
The press of her lips sear against his neck, a brand. He sighs as he rests his own hand on her arm, a humorless smile spreading across his face and he's thankful it's hidden from her point of view. He'd hate to sour the mood with his brooding.
"That'd be nice, a welcome escape and a well-deserved reward for what we've gone through. A cabin is an interesting choice though, is there a particular reason for that?" It sounds nice: the crisp air, the vibrant life surrounding them, and the quiet relief that came with finally being apart from the complexities of the city.
But it is just a thought.
