"I love you." The words slipped so easily from his lips, words that held so much meaning, seamlessly mixing with the moment that Myungsoo shared with his boyfriend. Fingers combing through the dark brown locks of hair with a soft smile, arms slipping around his shoulders to hold him close against his frame. The moment was perfect, except for one major detail. The person he was sharing it with, was not the one he was imagining. Myungsoo had been with Sunggyu for over a year, a seemingly perfect relationship on the outside. Sure, they had their arguments, every couple does it’s all part of being in love, but some things couldn’t be repaired and his feelings towards the elder male had long since diminished. This had never really been an issue, he had spent enough time with the other to know what he wanted to hear, knew how to act, and what to say to convince him that nothing had changed. It was all simple manipulation. A skill he was proud of possessing. Yoo Youngjae, was his best friend. A brash stubborn pain in his ass. Loud, annoying, perverted and overly cocky about his attractive looks. Since the day they met, their entire friendship was based on perverted jokes, and general harassment. Always doing what it took to piss the other off and make his life as annoying as possible. This was what he was comfortable with. The bond they shared had made them closer than he could remember being with just about anyone, and as time passed he even found himself coming to trust the arrogant boy. As their friendship deepened, things changed between them. Myungsoo learned that his best friend had a lot more to him than meets the eye. He learned about his fears and complete lack of controlling his emotions. He came to understand his insecurities and that a lot of the arrogance he had known was nothing but a mask. Different sides about the boy were being revealed with every day that passed and Myungsoo was intoxicated. Soon enough, things changed. Youngjaes cocky attitude faltered around Myungsoo, and Myungsoos cold demeanour disappeared around Youngjae. They became a shelter for each other. Best friends. The type you could count on for anything. They could open up to each other, speak honestly. Things that others would judge them or scorn them for, they supported each other. There was just one secret that the bartender never had the courage to tell his dealer boyfriend. He was falling. Hard and fast. Inevitably. Because it just wasn’t possible. This was Youngjae. The most amazing person on the planet, but they were only friends right? The hugs, touches, kisses.. it was all just friendly affection, because Youngjae would never feel the same. Things carried on this way, Myungsoo faking a smile, false ‘I love you’s’ shared with the one person, he truly no longer felt this way for. Youngjae and himself were closer than ever, so close that Myungsoo was one of the first people to find out when Youngjae had developed a crush. Some kid, Dae— something or other. He’d really tried to pay attention, but an odd feeling had distracted him, almost like a punch directly to the gut. Was this jealousy? No, impossible. This was Youngjae, his annoying stubborn bratty best friend. That was all. Yet another fake smile was shared and a tight hug. “I’m so happy for you.” He muttered, arms tightening slightly. So why didn’t he want to let him go? Daehyun came into their lives, handsome and for all accounts of it, perfect. Worst of all, he made Youngjae happy. The blonde changed right before his eyes, for the better. No longer so unsure of himself, a smile almost permanently plastered across his features. The new found couple was sickening. Myungsoo found being around his best friend becoming harder, yet he never could tear himself away. Daehyun got to kiss him, hold him, hear that he loved him. But Myungsoo knew, that he still had Youngjaes trust more than anyone. A fact that made him happy deep inside, because when everything went wrong and Youngjae needed to cry. It was his shoulder he would turn to. Sunggyu and Myungsoo were fighting more, his boyfriend had became suspicious. Myungsoo was spending too much time with Youngjae, putting too much effort into making him happy. But what else could he do? Daehyun had disappeared without a trace again, Youngjae needed him. “You’re in love with him! Just admit it.” Sunggyu screamed in anger after yet another night of the bartender coming home late from Youngjaes. “Don’t be fucking stupid. I’m not.” I really am. “Is he better than me?” “No, of course not.” In every way. “Why don’t we just break up and you can go be happy with him?” “Cause I love you, he’s just my best friend.” Because I’m not Daehyun, I don’t compare. I really am just his best friend, even if he’s my everything. Daehyun was gone completely. Youngjae was destroyed. So why was Myungsoo happy about his best friends misery? He held his friend close, curled in his chest as he soothed him gently through the pain, caressing his fingers against the side of his neck. Youngjae shivered, asked him to stop. Myungsoo continued. He wasn’t stupid, he knew exactly what he was doing. He watched as Youngjaes eyes fell closed, as a slow breath fell from parted lips. Myungsoos gaze lingered too long there. He was taken. He was with Sunggyu. It should have stopped him. “Myung.. if you don’t stop, I won’t be able to.” Youngjae murmured, forever loyal. It was Myungsoo that had the problem, his fingers continued to brush against the side of his neck, leaning closer until his lips pressed against the trail his fingers had invisibly etched upon his skin. A small moan fell from the blondes lips. The most addictive sound to ever grace his ears, he needed it again. He had to make Youngjae feel good, had to show him how he should be loved. His teeth sunk into the flesh, and another moan was dragged, heads tilted and lips met. It was too late to stop now.. Myungsoo had to have all of him. He needed that perfection. Myungsoo ended it with Sunggyu. The night of desires he’d shared with Youngjae had proven something he’d been trying to deny for too long. His nights were spent holding the younger blonde close, sweet nothings and affection whispered. “I love you, Youngjae.” The blonde always returning the same three words. He just didn’t have the courage to tell him, just how serious he was. They were best friends, and that was all they’d ever be, right?
