I baked a cake yesterday. All by myself. Mum came in for a little while for a break from working in the upstairs office and helped me to mix icing and get the cake halves out of the fiddly oven. But I spent most of those hours (and the hardest of it) doing it all myself. I'm still happy about it today. The cake looks terrible, but it tastes good, and that's what matters. There's a slice left, and that's a good sign. Even kitten enjoyed the icing parts. ♡

mads mikkelsen is the reason why i knew how to pronounce “mads” when i met a boy in copenhagen with that name. and he pretended to act very impressed. and his name was pretty much the only reason i kissed him, because he wasn’t really that cute. i mean he was decent-looking, but he was scruffy with a mustache--actually he looked a LOT like paul f. tompkins, which drove me bonkers for MONTHS afterward while i racked my brain trying to think which actor the other mads resembled. i’m veering off track here but what made me bring all this up is that every time i see a thing mads mikkelsen in, i remember smoking with the other mads outside an icelandic bar and watching the sun rise
