This is an excellent, excellent thread about the "persona" and "ironically" embracing bigotry, a point raised in response to transphobia but applicable to so much more, and by a man who's been there and seen it all, producer and musician Steve Albini. It makes things make so much sense, if you want to understand why people do stuff sometimes. Why seemingly decent people embrace say, bigotry, hatred, division, and in well-known cases in punk circles, fascist imagery.

And it's a good reminder that you don't have to get swayed by anything anyone else in the industry is doing. It's a fucking flashy industry, the wrong stuff will make the covers of magazines, so if you start to doubt yourself, doubt your own boundaries, doubt what is acceptable, know that you absolutely don't have to change to suit the industry antics. You know where your heart lies. You know that parodying fascism doesn't remove you very far from it, and the wrong folks will follow, etc. Incidentally this thread was about Ricky Gervais' latest bullshit, but it's worth a read. I'm at work and might transcribe it later, but here's the link.
