48) What’s your favourite trope to write?

WHAT DID I MISS

The one up underneath prove the wind’s art looks so familiar agh

I heard someone else recently complaining about this, what’s up with that??

Admittedly I am vagueblogging because I don’t want to start shit, but I 100% believe that just because you are a fan who has a healthy confidence in their own work (which is not a bad thing), you are not qualified to OFFER criticism where it is not requested. Especially in fandom, where we are fans producing our own works in fun.

If someone says “I’m submitting to your zine and even if I don’t get in, I’d like to hear what I could do better”, that’s one thing.

But implying that there’s something wrong with a submission and you’d be glad to ‘enlighten’ them is pretty fucking cocky. Especially when it’s supposedly all fan-run, so everybody is ‘on the same level’. It’s one thing to hear it from someone in the business whose job is to give such criticism. It’s another thing to have a peer (that you don’t know - acquaintanceship does go a long way in this) go “oh, huh, hey do you take constructive criticism on your work?”

I do what I can for the fandom haha! I’ve got a fat stack waiting to be finished so I hope no one gets tired of the souyo onslaught to come ��

Awwwww, I’m glad you liked it! And I’m glad you’re reading it. I understand not wanting to read unfinished fics (I’m kinda the same way) and I think 3 of the ones I currently have going I would say, yeah. Wait. (Home, Through Thick and Thin, What’s Actually Important.)

TaFH and Introducing Vasha, however, you’re probably safe to read. TaFH because it’s kind of gotten into manga serialization; the confession & ‘true end’ are resolved, so now it’s just... different episodes in the boys’ lives as they grow up, go to uni, become rock stars, all that fun jazz.

Introducing Vasha is mostly there for fluff. While there’s a light ‘plot’ - the boys living together with some connecting events - most of it is just an excuse to write about cats, cuddles, and kisses. I can’t imagine leaving any chapter on a cliffhanger.

L: How many times do you usually revise your fic/chapter before posting?

This is a hard one. I often re-read what I’ve written as I write new stuff, and end up kinda revising as I go, if that makes sense. I don’t usually do any major revisions after the first time I write a scene (unless the beta suggests it). Mostly I just reword things, because I’m a wordy person and often write things with too many words when there’s a better way to say it. 

K: What’s the angstiest idea you’ve ever come up with?

During souyoweek last year one of the prompts was Jealousy, and I didn’t write anything for it, but I liked the idea of, after P4, Yosuke finds out that his partner has a boyfriend, and then having a kind of a crisis over it. The idea lends itself well to angst hehehe.

M: Got any premises on the back burner that you’d care to share?

Too many! 

For souyo, there’s a particular kink meme prompt (warning, link leads to a kink meme which contains nsfw fic). It is also an angsty prompt, now that I think about it hehe. 

And bonus material / sequel for Days Without Nights, which I’m tentatively calling Days After Days.

I also want to write a P4/Raidou Kuzunoha crossover, starring Naoto and Gouto.

S: Any fandom tropes you can’t resist?

Internalized Homophobia? I mean that’s canon so you can’t avoid it haha. I am a sucker for Hurt/Comfort though and Delicious Yosuke Tears.

F: Share a snippet from one of your favorite dialogue scenes you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it.

Souji hunched his head low on his shoulders in embarrassment. “Yeah, interior decorating isn’t one of my primary skills. I wanted to do something while you’re at work, but I didn’t want it to be a complete surprise in case you ended up hating it.”
