With 2021 coming to a close, we'd like to look back to what a monumental year it was for miles covered. We seem far removed from it now, but getting back on the road had a different feel. What would it be like traveling? Heading down I-55 in March was pure relief. Driving toward the southwest in the C2 996 was a welcomed joy, much like the normalcy we found in Tulsa, Oklahoma on our first stop heading to Phoenix. The next night we got to relive our Route 66 adventure from 2018 with a stay at El Rancho Hotel in Gallup New Mexico. #996on66 The attached photo is from the Painted Desert, this time with a different 996, as opposed to 2018. The main destination in this trip was Scottsdale and hanging with @lets.drive.312 But the second segment of this tour took us North through Navajo Nation on our way to Moab Utah. The sights and roads of Moab were fantastic in our lifted 996. Heading back East did not exactly take us directly home. We got to experience what appeared to be the straightest and most desolate road in America, Highway 412 on our way to visit @joemqn and his new mid century home along with a couple of Mercs. Once the car season was in full swing, it was time for a new experience in an unknown place to us: Snowshoe Mountain, West Virginia. The inaugural @ruchlosrallye The rally has two powers joining together @achtungkraft and @zuffenphilly to host us for a weekend of great roads. But getting there was also part of the adventure, we stayed in cabins in the Hocking Hills area of Ohio. Where the next morning we had a solo 964 driver join our caravan @klammerbernd and he hasn’t left since! Ruchlos was also the last hurrah for the first Porsche. The 996 Cab was sold weeks later. In July we attended our third @deutschemarquesag at the Gillmore Museum in Michigan. And @pcanational Parade was in our ‘zone.’ So, a few of us drove down to French Lick, Indiana in July to hear ‘why would you do that to your car?’ And ‘are those Magnus Walker wheels?’ 😂 Doing our best not to terrorize anyone in the 3.2 Carrera aka Candy, but one can not help existing? On the way back North there was a quick stop to scope out the Bottleworks District in Indy, because….
