hello! thank you for your question :’) in my opinion i think the age of consent should definitely be bumped up to 18! it kind of baffles me that here in the UK you need to be 18 to drink alcohol but 16 to have sex ??? and yeah i totally agree with you on your last point lol, i’m the same age! life is about learning after all, regardless of how old you arein my personal experience, i lost my virginity a couple of months after my 16th birthday and while the act was fine in itself (we had been in a relationship for nearly 2 years) now with hindsight i still wish that i had waited until i was older. i didn’t start enjoying sex until i was 19, because by that time i’d started to feel a little more adult, a little more independent and i had gained confidence in my body and what i liked. i guess everyone reaches a maturity like that at different points in their life, but i still think the age of consent should be raised up a little, just so the pressure is lifted from teenagers, because i know plenty of people who did, and still do, use 16 as a set rule, thinking they Need to have sex by that age otherwise it’s game over.
