Day 88: Being First Generation Filipino-American. My family comes from a small fishing town called Cardona in the Rizal Province of the Philippines. Although I’ve been back “home” as a child, coming back as an adult makes me appreciate my roots as well as the upbringing my parents and entire family provided for me and my siblings. I’m glad Maiyah could experience this at an age she could remember. This trip is truly unforgettable and I’m beyond grateful... Stepping into 2018 living my best life counting my blessings. Day 87: Natural Monuments. Ahhh visiting the island of Bohol was short, sweet and such a balance from my Euro trips. There are so many natural beauties in Bohol that were so astonishing to witness. Glad my siblings and I decided to detour from our parents for a few days to check out this island. Swipe left to see some images I captured in Bohol. Photo 01: A hill we zip lined to and from for only ₽400 per person (absolutely breathtaking and quite peaceful view). Photo 02: The Chocolate Hills. There are over 1,200 of these naturally formed hills all over the island formed overtime due to the island once being submerged under water (I strongly suggest to Google it cuz it’s quite amazing). Photo 03: The Loboc River. We were able to take a little mini cruise up and down the river while inhaling local Filipino food (#nomnoms and nature, can’t beat it). Photo 04: Hinagdanan Cave. The cave was founded by a farmer digging on his land around the 16th century and discovered this cave. Apparently you can pay a small fee to swim in the water but we arrived to late in the day to take advantage of that... Day 83: Hospitality. Filipinos are known for their hospitable traits. I never much resonated with this and often took it for granted being a first generation Filipino-American. Now as an adult I totally get it. Tons of my friends say how sweet my parents are and traveling to the Philippines as an adult opened my eyes to it even more (especially after traveling to a handful of European countries). Traveling to third world is an experience in itself... Day 78: Arts & Crafts. In a DIY world it seems like arts and crafts are just a trending thing... But I’m definitely one to jump on this bandwagon. Maiyah and I were in Michael’s yesterday picking up last minute Christmas gifts and there’s soooooo many DIY arts and crafts we want to try. You can’t beat a legit arts and crafts day with your kid, especially since I’m not a huge fan of kids being hooked on electronics. Got a favorite arts and crafts activity for kids? Day 76: Communication. In any relationship; friendship, family-ship, marriage, partner in life, partner in crime or bestie, communication plays a huge factor. I cherish the efforts people make to communicate and keep in touch. I especially appreciate those that have stuck it out to learn how to communicate with me. People have their own ways of communicating and expressing themselves. Learning each other’s communication styles and finding a way to work together can be a journey, but one worth the while to keep your favorite people in your lives. P.S. Anyone else speak Minion? Day 75: Bro-ing Out. Soooooo, I love my ladies and I stand for any and everything that strengthens us as women facing adversity as we have been our entire lives due to the lack of a simple “Y chromosome.” But I have to admit, I’ve been a tomboy at heart my entire life. I’ve always had my select few “female besties”, but when it comes to hanging in groups whether it had been high school, work or connecting with my boyfriends guy friends, I tend to click more with the “guy groups.” Sometimes debating about whether Durant is a “real one” for joining the Warriors for the simple fact of a secured Championship ring is more fun to me than how my relationship is going, when we plan on getting married and how our energy is “connected.” Those deep convos I like to save for the “select few besties” that I have. Don’t get me wrong, both convos are needed (at times)... But I’m a total “bro” at heart. I appreciate all my guy friends that appreciate me as simply a friend they can converse with and be themselves around. “Bro-ing out” is something I love to do when I need a breather from the estrogen cloud.... Day 62: Women’s Intuition. Through the years I’ve learned to listen to my intuition... There’s been times where I’ve tried to deny an intuitive feeling and later when I explored that feeling, it turned to be true. Don’t get me wrong, there’s predisposed, judgmental bias, then there’s intuition. It’s just this feeling women get when something doesn’t seem right, mothers get it especially... Ladies when you get that feeling, listen to it. Vibes don’t lie babe, listen the way your energy is reacting daily. Learn it, know it, nourish it, protect it... Day 59: Fridays. Woke up today with all kinds energy and excitement. Started my day off with music and vibes, excited to close out various design projects for the week. Although I still do work Saturday, I’m excited for the plans I have with loved ones for the weekend. Been dancing in my seat driving from point A to B just thinking about it today. Don’t get me wrong, I love my new job. Designing and writing communications for a living is my thing! But it gets lonely working remote and sitting in front of a laptop all day... I miss my peoples, and I’ll get to see them this weekend!
