Kill My Mind
a song for fall
i fell in love with fall on a cold day in late september
the flowers had all fallen by then and the leaves were starting to too
warm colors of red, brown, orange
crunching beneath those old battered shoes i’ve worn a million times before and will wear a million times more
the season enveloped me like a hug
smelling like woodsmoke; i swear, something is always burning somewhere in that sky
and yet the air has never felt cleaner
sharp with pine needles as they poke their way into freedom
a whisper of winter rain on the horizon
i fell for the way the sky was never that sunny again, clouds upon clouds upon clouds drifting past
the shape of a dragon breathing flames, a wizard selling dreams, a wish from a genie in a golden lamp, the sheep i tried to count in order to fall asleep
fall was a season of endings and beginnings
step into your new self, shed your skin like a snake
fall holds the endless possiblities
a thousand paths diverging in a wood colored yellow by autumn
and i, i walked the path i wanted to, chose a million different forks
each one leading me back to the beginning of the end of the trees as their leaves fell until the following spring
fall was chilly air and spicy cider, picking out a pumpkin at the farm, sliding down the slides we were far too big for at this point, getting lost in that stupid maze that wasn’t even that long
fall was putting on makeup for halloween, screaming so loud at scare trails
giggling and eating candy until one a.m.
and it was all that and more, the day i realized i had fallen for it
cold, cold, end of september
-.x.Star; 9.13.19, a song for fall

Happy 23rd Birthday, Adrian!!
Louis Tomlinson takes the stage in the largely red-hued video for his fantastic new single "Kill My Mind." Check it out here.

Louis Tomlinson switched things up on his new single “Kill My Mind.” And it’s proving to be a winning formula for the 27-year-old. In the last week, the indie-leaning pop/rock track has amassed several million listens on various streaming platforms. And it’s about to get another bump with the release of an accompanying video. Out today (September 13), the Charlie Lightening-directed project creates an ambiance that is in-line with the moody anthem. In it, Louis takes the stage under bright red lights to put a show for a packed crowd. As he’s doing that, a romantic subplot evolves within the audience.
Make sure to watch all the way through because there’s a preview of Louis’ next project in the final seconds. The “Back To You” crooner opened up about the video in an exclusive interview earlier this week. “Conceptually, for ‘Kill My Mind,’ I wanted it to be like all the Oasis videos I love,” he explained. How did he achieve the goal? “I wanted it to be more about the performance. Not focusing too much on a narrative and just being lit really well. I think we pulled it off. I’m excited about that one.” Give the video for the latest single off his (finished!) debut album a view below and let us know what you think.
