8mm talk (where i wanna get a tapeless system but also believe strongly in the sentimental value of the cassette)
To use tapes for storage versus using a tapeless system
Primarily, tapes take time to convert digitally and are bound to mechanical failure (as well being expensive/prone to age/magnetic fields etc)
Vs tapeless systems where you are recording from the camera straight into the sd, you negate the time and hassle completely
However- I think as I start to strip away from the camera the parts that make it, *it*- I needa assess *why do that*
Recording on cassettes a pain in the ass sure, but you get a physical tape containing the footage and a level of variables you can adjust that you wouldn't normally have at the time of recording/transfer - (ex. Placing some metal near the camera that makes the transfer have this noise effect that atleast I think is cool)
Then you have tapeless systems, where it removes the hassle of transfer via directly recording into the sd card of a mini dvr- i havent messed with this yet, but i feel thisd be best for recording consistently/commercial work as you remove points of failure
So maybe if I wanted to use tapeless systems in the future, it sounds like it'd be great for general usage/things that need consistency- but in the event where I want to hold onto something harder or wanna capture the raw heart of something, tapes will be the move

Angel - 8mm
[Chorus] Hush, little angel, won't you try? The devil hears you when you cry
[Instrumental Break]
[Verse 1] So you can't and you won't Give up the ghost now leave it alone You know you don't need those lessons someone else learned It's your life, it's your right to burn
[Verse 2] So you count and discount All the cracks in the pavementΒ as you move about You say that you'll take the push for the sake of the pull When you're deaf dumb and blind, your eyes don't feel the wool
[Chorus] And every time it's hush, little angel, won't you try? The devil hears you when you cry Hush, little angel, close your eyes Think pleasant dreams and truer lies
[Verse 2] It's not like those tales Of glass and devotion, they like to sell Oh, you just want to be wanted, it's making you sick But it's all right,Β oh yeah, it's only a prick
[Verse 3] And that's how you know that it's bad It's the problem with pain, it's just something to have Oh, baby, you're running the clock cause you can't make it stop So just sit still and hope the hammer won't drop
[Pre-Chorus] And every time it'sβ
[Instrumental Break]
[Chorus] Hush, little angel, won't you try? The devil hears you when you cry Hush, little angel, close your eyes Think pleasant dreams and bluer skies Angel, don't you cry
