Takeshi was exhausted. Days where all he wanted to do was curl into bed and drift off into slumber came more frequently the more he had jobs to handle. Tonight there was no one waiting for him at his front door to keep him company. There wasn’t someone who let him bask in the peaceful atmosphere while he finished his dinner before they watched television together or played read books together. there was no one to keep him company, and he was somewhat relieved but mostly he felt lonely. He couldn’t get used to being by himself not after all those years he spent creating a group of friends he considered his family and always having them around.
He loosened the tie around his neck, sighing as he ran his fingers through his hair. He wasn’t much of a cook, so he made sure to bring home a frozen meal to erase the hunger he was feeling when he walked through his front doors. Suddenly he felt the urge to call out someone’s name, asking them if they were okay with what he was putting into his microwave, but stopped himself mid-sentence when he realized that no one was there to answer his question. Suddenly the loneliness he was feeling grew into a massive beast that overtook even his home. With his family across the world and his father in Japan, he had no one to keep him company. His eyes softened, a blank expression on his face as he frowned, but soon shook away the feeling building in his chest when he heard the beeping of his microwave. He instantly regretted pulling the dish out so quickly. “ouch, that’s hot.”
Eating alone wasn’t so bad, he figured. But he would rather have someone sit across from him, telling him bad jokes or quite simply, just being there. However, his attention turned elsewhere when he heard someone singing loudly (he could hear it through his closed windows). Taking his fourth bite of his meal, he stood up and walked over to his balcony, opening up the glass door before letting his arms rest on the edge of his balcony.
Below was a male, staggering around sloppily on the sidewalk below as he sang a song about heartbreak. Takeshi was fascinated by the male, how even when people looked at him as if he was insane, he continued to sing with tears streaming down his face. He must’ve been drunk. He had to be. It was the only possible explanation to his run-down appearance and bold actions. That, or he simply didn’t care about what others thought. He watched as the male wiped away what seemed to be snot running down his nose as he continued to sing the song, his voice breaking here and there but he didn’t mind. What shook him, however, was just how heartbreaking his voice sounded, how his voice seemed to tremble with the exact emotions he was feeling at that precise moment the words slivered off his tongue. But even then he thought the song was being beautifully sung in the most tragic manner possible.
“Impressive,” He bemused, a small smile on his face before he heard a female voice commenting on the same male he was watching. He peered over to his left, staring at a girl with long, blonde tresses. He didn’t know who the girl was,, but he had to admit that he was intrigued not just by her dyed hair but how peaceful she seemed to be as she continued to watch the drunken male below. He nodded his head at her comment, agreeing with her before he widened his smile. “Yeah, I think his voice is heartbreaking, too.”
