it feels like he had been hit by a truck. of course, he hadn’t, he knows he hasn’t. but maybe if he thinks about it hard enough he can completely block out everything from the past few weeks and believe that that is what happened. hell, go one further and convince himself it gave him some pretty bad amnesia and forget the entire past yeah. play dumb. things were simpler before then, anyways.
he’s just about convinced himself when he hears someone walk into the room. he assumes it’s a nurse at first, they’re always coming in to bother him. give him meds, talk about whatever drama’s going on because you’re such a great listener, josh!-- but he’s really just in no mood for conversation. it’s only when he opens his eyes and looks over that he realized that, hey, that’s not a nurse. or a doctor or whatever. that’s jess.
he really thought she was dead. like, really really thought she was dead. and after a half hour of mike going apeshit on him when he could do nothing but sit there and take it-- he was pretty sure he had dont it, too. just hadn’t remembered it. didn’t remember a lot of what he’d don’t that night. so he flinches, closing his eyes tight again. he can’t move, hurts to move. everything hurts. he just hopes she isn’t here to hurt him, too.
“i didn’t-- i didn’t mean to, i’m sorry--”
