temple for character ask, grief or something (i don't know but i'm interested in your take on what temple and caboose think of each other)
Warning: Canonical character deaths mentioned.āYou got a visitor.āĀ Mark looked up. Who would visit him? If it was his lawyer the guard would have said so.Maybe Georginaā¦No. No. It wouldnāt be her.Ā The others were looking at him curiously. And that was another thing. Of course. Of *course* he was trapped with these idiots for his sentence. Of course he couldnāt just lick his wounds alone, like he wanted to.Ā āLucky!ā Cronut said cheerfully.Ā āI never get any visitors. Iād just love to thrust ināāāBoom Chika Wah Wah!āĀ āāTo a conversation.ā Cronut sighed.Ā He almost didnāt go but spending another two seconds with his āteamā was going to drive him up the wall.He didnāt know what to expectā¦Ā But he didnāt expect *him*āHello!ā Caboose said cheerfully.Ā āNo,ā Temple told him simply.Ā
temple for "send me a character" thing
This oneās actually a bit of a challenge for me because I really havenāt thought too much about Temple, but Iām really glad you asked!!
Why I like them: Formidable villain who actually has a plan that seems like it could work? Like Sigmaās plan seemed like something out of a fantasy, Locus n Felix seemed to bite off more than they could chew, but Temple was so close to actually doing it! Also he feels like a superĀ ārealā character in the flashback sequences to Biff and their blood gulch.Ā
Why I donāt: It felt like his motives and actions seem too big for one man? (I know, the rest of the Blues and Reds are there but he was the main instigator) I would rather see him actually induct an army of other reds and blues (more akin to the season 14 short series kind) so his kidnappings of the freelancers seem a little more realistic.
Favorite episode (scene if movie): Iām gonna go with scene here bc it really was one scene that killed me: when he talked to caboose in the jail cell. That was so heart wrenching and I love caboose and it hurt so much but it was also just so good. I live for angst, this isnāt new.
Favorite season/movie: Well since heās only season 15.... season 15.
Favorite line: Rrrrrevenge is a dish best served frozen. (Emphasis on the r rolling)
Favorite outfit: Again... this is RvB. This question doesnāt count.
OTP: BiffxTemple is really cute! But can I raise you.... BiffxTemplexGeorgina
Brotp: I wish we saw more Cronut! So Cronut and Temple. But also I think it would be funny to see Church and Temple so...
Head Canon: Temple really didnāt like the taste of beer but Biff did, so he acts surprised and happy when Biff gets some just to seem a little bit more connected (a reach but it sets up some cute fanfic ideas and fluffy feels)
Unpopular opinion: I donāt care for Temple much as a character in the grand scheme of things? I think itās just because I donāt care much for a tragic villain in this sense, like Sharkface.
A wish: Every time they bring up fish in the upcoming seasons, there is some reference back to Templeās never-ending supply.
An oh-god-please-dont-ever-happen: Bring Temple back like Sharkface? Or even like the time travel shenanigans?? Kinda have this opinion on every dead or gone character bc I just feel like they wonāt portray them correctly or use them as a cheap plot point. *Stares at Joe* This time tomfoolery better not be all cheap plot points and callbacks.
5 words to best describe them: Sadistic, sociopathic, misguided, one-track-mind, clouded
My nickname for them: Heās tagged asĀ āBinary screaming^2ā³ in reference to Churchās tag, but squared for all the blues and reds :)
Thanks for asking! Hereās the post if anyone else wants to ask.
temple for the character ask
favorite thing about them: That heās more complicated that he seems. Iāve said this before but the fact that he chooses to view his actions as villainous rather than heroic or just bad but necessary is so interesting.Ā Throughout the series we have characters that do bad things, but have always justified it to themselves. Even FelixĀ āAt the end of the day, if I'm stronger than you and if I'm faster than you, then I can kill you! And that's better than anything money can buy!ā That is a total villain line, but Felix has a survival of the fittest mentality. (I think) From his point of view he wouldnāt define himself as a villain. Those that are weak have only themselves to blame for letting him take advantage. Sharkface wants revenge but he saw himself as a victim.Temple doesnāt want to be a victim anymore and decides even though his actions could probably be justified he decides heās not a hero either, so he becomes a villain.Ā Ā He doesnāt lie to himself. He lies to the Reds and Blues at first to justify why theyĀ should join him, but he doesnāt lie to himself thinking that his motives go any further than retribution and revenge. The UNSC DID do a horrible thing. They SHOULD be brought to justice, but justice isnāt what itās about to him. Itās about hurting the people that killed Biff. Which also I think shows just how deeply he loved Biff and how terribly his death affected him. Biffās death brought him to the point where heās okay with doing things that he personally thinks are the actions of a villain.Ā It ALSO makes the line ofĀ āMy friends will avenge me!āĀ āWhat friends?ā way more sad.Ā least favorite thing about them: The fact that heās not supposed to be all that smart is done in an awkward way. Like Iām fine with him having bad plans and having to (bing) search good quotes, I donāt know what exactly it is, but itās not done quite right for me, maybe it needed to go further?Ā
favorite line: You just know he practiced:Ā ārevenge is a dish best served frozen.ā in front of a mirror.Ā
brOTP: Biff and TempleĀ
OTP:Ā Georgina/Biff/Temple
nOTP: I donāt hate it,Ā but I donāt personally like Temple/Grif itās not something Iām up for reading, but my mind has been changed before so donāt quote me on this.Ā
random headcanon:Ā Obviously he was best man at Biff and Georginaās wedding. He lost the rings and they had to use his shoelace during the ceremony. Luckily he did find it. Biff wears his wedding ring around his neck for safe keeping tied with the templeās shoelace.Ā
unpopular opinion: He was a good villain. I agree some of his impact was softened because of a few plot choices, but at his core I think he was a well made character.Ā
song i associate with them:Ā When Youāre Evil - Voltaire.Ā
favorite picture scene: I think the scene where Biff and him sneak off together to talk. You get a sense of where heās coming from.Ā
002 | Temple
002 | Give me a character & I will tell you
How I feel about this character:
I like Temple a lot. Like, surface he is literally a cartoon villain with the mustache and the railroad tracks, but thatās because thatās what heās built himself up as. I feel like it was a super interesting thing that he has set himself and the Blues and Reds up as villains, because if you change the point of view of his actions and get rid of the villain monologues (that he used bing to come up with) heās doing the same thing that Wash was doing up to a point. Heās trying to get back at the people he blames for the legit suffering of him and his men and the death of his friend. He could have framed himself as a hero to himself, but he doesnāt. He himself sees himself as a villain. Thatās so interesting to me. He lets his grief form him. He decides to do cruel things (like the freelancer freezer) and he decides heās not going to pretend that itās heroic. Itās revenge. So he plays up the goofy villain side because of his⦠self awareness about it? He knows heās doing villainous things, but he doesnāt really know how to act like one, so he tries to present himself as a proper villain.Ā I donāt know, I havenāt watched 15 in awhile, but itās super interesting digging into it.Essentially heās a normal guy who had one terrible day and let that day shape his actions for years to come.Ā

002 Temple?
How I feel about this character: I donāt hate him as much as other people do⦠I eman I hate him for reasons, but in the way youāre supposed to. But fi I was going to rank the villains⦠heād be at the bottom next to the rest of the Blues and Reds. Sorry Temple. All the people I ship romantically with this character: Kinda sorta Biff. Not by much, but I can see him having an unrequited crush that he gave up when Biff got with Georgina. He mostly moved on, then Biff died⦠yeah. My non-romantic OTP for this character: BiffMy unpopular opinion about this character: I donāt think he was a bad character. Heās what I would imagine a SIM Trooper as a villain being. Stupid and trying to be evil, but his motivation is understandable. Oh donāt get me wrong, after how he rubbed Churchās death into Cabooseās face and got him upset, my sympathy went out the door. But he was a decent character who, if the arc went past one season, could have been even better. One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: ā¦I got nothing honestly.my OTP: Nonemy cross over ship: Nonea headcanon fact: When beginning his evil plans, he forced the other Blues and Reds to read Shakespeare so that they could follow the correctĀ āShakespearean villainā procedure. He called it off since they all sucked at it/complained about it, plus Loco kept mixing up the lines.
expression meme: norm the genie d2
sorry it took so long! heās really a piece of work to draw haha
many thanks to @bittyshawlsĀ for that rockin Norm design they provided us with that i used without permission
i love your fairly oddparents commentary. and i'm curious about what you think of norm the genie, since you haven't talked about him yet and he's my fave fop character.
Iām not really sure how I feel about Norm, actually! Iām glad that someone out there loves him a lot, because thatās not the love I can give him over here.
I really appreciate him as a character. Heās tricky and fun, and I love thatĀ āHow could I have tricked you? Youāre ten years old and Iām 50,000ā³ line of his.
Heās just sort of⦠A stereotype in my eyes. Tricky genie, yep. I do think itās good on the creators for really pushing the tricky part, rather than leaving him an emotionless wall that purely grants in the most literal way possible and then leaves.
Heās a good character, but I almost think heād be better suited to being something that wasnāt a genie because of the stereotype. But then that would be a problem, because⦠Norm is who he is because heās a genie. Heās bored after 50,000 years, and puts some extra effort in screwing around with wishes and loopholes because of that.
He lives his life trying to escape that lamp.Itās like, at the same time, he needs to be a genie- Which is perfect character design, because it means you successfully designed a character for that position, and only that position. So as far as stereotypes go, heās a REALLY GOOD one! Possibly the best I could name!
(And we creators and audiences, and all people, could stand to step out of the āstereotypes are always badā mindset. One thing we hit hard in psychology class was that āstereotypeā shouldnāt have a negative connotation attached to it. The word stereotype only means that something is commonly found, so if there were too few people to fit the stereotype, it wouldnāt actually be one.)
I dunno! Normās a cool guy. And he does have his adorable moments.
I like it when he touches people, whether itās poking their nose or putting an arm against their shoulder or anything like that.
Heās so casual, even with people he doesnāt know to well. Heās so absolutely confident.Ā
Canāt forget that snappy wit. Whatās the best thing about being a genie?
And heās very clever. This was such a nice and world-building plot twist:
I gotta appreciate the fact that before Timmy, Norm apparently got sucked back into his lamp because he was drunk and partying.
I can only imagine what wish-granting fun could be had in a room where his lamp was just tossed around from hand to hand after every three inebriated wishes. That could make a good short story, actuallyā¦
And I just like this scene because itās ridiculous and Norm looks so freaking proud of himself:
I like him, heās just not one of the first characters Iād name when Iām thinking about this show. But, yep. Heās not poorly-designed at all.
But this was still possibly his worst idea ever:
This is not how we make friends, Norm.
Speaking of which, I did really like how in āBack to the Normā he started out trying to be friends with Crocker, and then reached his breaking point andĀ āNOPE!āād out of there to Timmyās place, and then just decided to be a jerk and send Crocker to Mars without oxygen and watch him asphyxiate. Friends are apparently more trouble than theyāre worth, so who needsĀ āem?
Iāve been trying to plot out a timeline of magical creatures based around Normās 50,000 years comment, because he looks and acts like heād be in the younger half of his species. Cosmo and Wanda are both a little over 10,000, so right now Iām leaning towards the idea that he grew up with their two or three-times great-grandparents, and possibly H.P too. Still trying to figure out where to place him.
At the same time itās like, genies could be the oldest magical creatures because 50,000 years ago was the Ice Age and maybe back then some big grandfather genie had the idea to put all the little genies in magic lamps as time capsules so they would survive until a warmer climate, and the lamps are designed to prevent magic from leaking out to ensure the genies are safe? But then he wasnāt around to undo the spell so now theyāre permanently stuck until body heat and friction draw them out? Hmm. I should read up on some genie lore and see if there are any origin stories there.
(And if itās genies you like, Iād recommend the first five books of the Children of the Lamp series by P.B. Kerr. Itās about genie children coming into their powers, but Iād definitely stop after book 5. The Audibles are fantastic.)
