Just officially finished watching BTVS and I must say that I don’t think I will ever get over the fact that the last words Buffy says in the entire show is “I love you” and “Spike”. The fact that he sacrifices/ gives up his life for her multiple times and then he gives it up to save the world FOR HER! AAAUUGHHHHHHHH!!!!!! Heart is SHATTERED. Like yes, I do believe that Spike cared about Dawn and the scoobies and after getting his soul, protecting the potentials. But he would have never felt that way or done it without his love for Buffy. My heart melted so bad w/ the final Spuffy moments. Istg BTVS walked so AO3 writers could run with the whole enemies to friends/ situationship to enemies to lovers. The fact that the entirety of s6 they spend fucking it out and figuring out their issues, then they both grow and change separately and towards the end—together and their final romantic moments are them cuddling in each other’s arms. STOP. The angst to fluff in this show makes me WEAKK IM ACHINGGG.
Istg if they mess up their relationship in the reboot show….ooooooohhhh boy. I’m not watching. Period.
(Also, I’m hoping that the whole Jenson Ackles rumor is their attempt to recast Spike because istg if she went through all that turmoil with him and coming to terms with the fact that having a ‘normal’ relationship doesn’t work for her [and unpopular opinion maybe, but I think part of it is not because she’s a Slayer.] just for them to throw her in a relationship that was never originally established in the show possibly to not swing one way or the other for fan ships, I will be so pissed off. Like if you’re going to do that why not explicitly establish her in any relationship? Why not just imply it? I mean they were LITERALLY END.GAME in the show AND the comics. Like you don’t just bring back Spike after killing him in some grand way and then make a bunch of comics where they’re together just to slap her with the suburban life or something with some random new character. Nuh uh.)
