Soapbox Sunday is brought to you by Arnold’s Rules of Success. 1. Trust yourself: 7 years ago I left Puerto Rico. I didn’t know a thing about the state that I was headed but my mind was set on success. I didn’t care that Cincinnati was not big city living. I just wanted to prove myself, not only professionally, but as a human being. Sometimes we are afraid of making life changing decisions but change is good for all of us. All you have to do is trust yourself. 2. Break Some Rules: Not break the law, break the rules. You have to think outside the box and that is what brought me success in the places that I have been able to take the talents that I manage. Always try the path that’s not in your journey’s train tracks. 3. Don’t be afraid to fail: I’ve failed on plenty of things. One being auditioning to be emcee in the middle of my favorite nba team’s arena. But the thing I’m proud is that I’ve taken these chances and got to live memories that will forever be part of my life. Not everyone can say that they did radio or wrote a movie screenplay or attempted doing stand-up. Screw the “What ifs”. You’ll learn from failing. Don’t be afraid to fail. 4. Ignore the naysayers: I’ll never understand the people that will try to stop you from doing things just because they failed at it or because they feel it’s unattainable. One example was when I was able to book the Kast of Mortal Kombat at C2E2 earlier this year. Never stop working on something that your heart is on just because of haters. In the end, your success is enough to prove them wrong. 5. Work Like Hell: My weight-loss journey is a true testament of this. You can’t change the world by sitting on your couch. You need to work and work harder to get to where you want to. Nothing happens overnight but if you commit, it will pay off. I am proud of the habit changes I’ve made and the ones yet to come. Only one way to keep going: work your butt off! 6. Give Something Back: it’s not that hard to be nice to people.
