#6979 3 Fonteinen Hommage (Season 18/19) (Blend No. 106) (Belgium) This is the most expensive beer I’ve personally ever spent money on, so I figured it’d be nice to bust it out for my birthday. I’ve had a few 3F bottles in my time and I was super stoked for this one. Coming in at 5.3%, this bad boy features macerated whole sour cherries and raspberries on young lambic (1L of fruit - about 3/4 raspberry - to 1L of beer) and then diluted with more lambic. It pours an opaque bright ruby colour with a quickly dissipating head and a funky, juicy nose, the body is sharply carbed and clean, the juicy, earthy red berries jump out immediately alongside some barnyard funk and puckering sour vibes, it’s delicate and complex with subtle sweet raspberry jammy notes and a balanced acidity, it’s refreshing and a goddamned delight, wrapping in a tart, tangy, berry-forward finish. 20220117: Lego set 6979: Interstellar Starfighter. This is complete with only a few modifications, though it is missing all the electronic pieces. It was interesting to reconstruct with the parts from the bin and I definitely had to switch a few parts out, since they’re such specialty parts. This was from 1997 and it definitely was NOT intended to come apart. It’s a very stable build. But it also takes up huge amounts of room and I’ll be happy for it to not be in my house anymore :D
